I scrolled dowm to the bottom of the page and it says "add $498 to price for dealer prep" Oh well, there's always a catch!
Good luck on your search Machine! Let us know what you end up getting.
http://www.troycitygarage.com/dirt_bikes.htm Their prices are tough to beat as well.
Good dealer. Good poeple. Great kid on the bike.
Pickin up the KX450 on Sat. I found prices that were pretty much equal, but non cheap enough for a road trip...lol.
The KTM would have been my first choice, but none around and if they were it would be full price. God I hate paying over 7 grand for a bike. I'm used to 5 or 6 numbers, not 7, know what I mean?
If you guys want, i'll give you a first ride report after I ride it. I talked to mxb2 today and he got one as well. We will compare notes.
Pit Row
Loves it. Thinks it's the best 450 outta the box. That kid is one of the few racers I know the assumes NOTHING.
I wish we could test drive em like car shopping, that way it wouldn't be such a crap shoot.
To be fair: The YZ-F and RMZ's were '11s...the 12's won't offer anything different from what we rode (Both of these set-ups had plenty of the good stuff on'em...).
Hondas were NOT riden (By Austin); yet, we considered them our most viable choice against the KX for the simple fact that they're very Easy to Build and have GREAT Support form the Industry. We know people involved in that bike's development and I've had oportunities to ride some AMAZING Hondas. Those bikes are exactly as good as Chad says. PERIOD.
Pay-Out and the fact that Austin was headed to Germany to ride Kawis was influential, also.
HOWEVER, come the racing season...and...in Austin's case...PHX...
He could very well end up on a Honda.
Who knows.
Notes: The '12 KXF is narrower and lighter feeling than the '11 and the '11-'12 RMZ, too. Same goes for the YZF. KTM? Why bother. We can't get their current bike and I'm not gonna spend the resources tryin' to build one from the off-raod model: the '12 KTM 450 SX-F is an '11...for the most part-No thanks.
I KNOW that the Honda IS the lightest and flicks thru the air the easiest; however, what the Kawi gives up in those areas...it MORE than makes up for when things get REALLY ugly and you are wondering if the bars are gonna wag: Not on the Kawi!
Also, when you make the Kawi a "Race-Motor", in my personal experience, it has substantially BETTER LONGEVITY than the current Honda motor. That's jus' my opinion...based on paying for this stuff over the last 5 yrs. Also, better clutches, forks and a few other components...Valve Springs, anyone...Bueller...anyone...?
Again, that's my opinion...as a guy that goes by "TeamGreen"...so you jus' know I'm full of shit, right?
No matter WHAT you buy: Take care of it and ride it like you STOLE IT!
Enjoy.
