The balance mechanism has nothing to do with the audio input, but rather with the fluid in tiny tubular ear bones and it's relationship to gravity. Increased decibels for a prolonged amount of time for many years can damage your hearing. Think Pete Townshend = deaf.

Klipsh x11 fits way in your ear and blocks out a lot of wind noise when I’m riding my dual sport. I’ve never used them for moto. Down side is that they are expensive.

Riding with tunes on kicks ass once you get used to it. I don't need to hear anything on the bike, I just ride it/do it based on feel. Helps me relax and breath when riding. Great flow. No issues at all.
I second the ear plugs. But if you want a good set of ear buds to ride in, the same company that makes the ear plugs I wear make earbuds. They are flat on the outer part of the bud, so they don’t interfere with your helmet like other earbuds. https://www.westone.com/store/music/index.php/custom-series/

The Shop
With that being said i dont suggest riding with headphones on
I use ear plugs while racing. Once you’re used to it it’s a good thing.
If you're looking for something slimmer then Beats X would be my choice.
