Best year Honda and Suzuki 250f?

Throwing the idea around of letting my 06' YZ144 go to do another bike build. I want to do a Big Bore 250f. I know what year YZ and Kaw I would want, but not Honda or Suzuki. I know I want FI and spring forks. What years are the best for each?

2014 crf250r is the last honda 250 with spring forks before the 2017 came out, i would defenetly go with the 2014 honda it has a a-kit style fork before the 2017 came with a realt a kit style fork.. suzuki i would go wiith a 2012 it is pretty much the same as now and it has a spring fork with springs in both forklegs much better than sff spring fork.

2012 RMZ250 was a great bike! A magazine guy let me take their bike for a day and it was awesome! Great bottom and mid but fell off a bit on top. Worked well for me because I wasn't a revver. It was a great bike, but the fork sucked! I did some adjusting and got it a little better, but it was pretty harsh as you got further into the stroke. They could definitely use a revalve.

Honda, I honestly loved the 04 and 05 motors. 06 was good too. 10 was a great turning bike, but at 6'1 I felt really cramped and the bike felt really slow! Suspension wasn't set up for me at all so to me the chassis was a little busy and I got head shake a few times, but overall was a decent bike.

08 Honda was the best, no fi though. I haven't been impressed with any of the fi hondas.

When running a big bore, the airflow capacity of the head becomes even more important than with normal displacement. Personally I'd contact someone with dyno time and flow bench time and ask them. Fellow Vitard Derek Harris of HP race development would be a logical place to get some info. Obviously Pro Circuit would have the needed data, likely Twisted Development and others too.

2013 honda CRF250R. Great chassis and mine did great with the big bore kit installed. I have 5 bikes and this is my favorite. Handles great and the motor can be made to work well. Tom Zont Racing did all of the work. This is my stadium track vet killer bike.

I don't know why but I think I'm leaning towards the Honda.

We owned many crf250s over the years mainly used for racing moto and big6 Gps... If I were looking for one I'd find a used 13 and restore it . That chassis/motor package can be made to work phenomenal.

I’ve had a 11 and 13 rmz good bike. Never any problems Honda probably similar power wise. Have you listen to the swap review for the 19. Seems like they made a big improvement motor wise. They said it was the best rmz to date and I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a lil cheaper than the other brands

talk to Tom Zont at TZR Racing. He made mine into a beast. I have a yz250, a 2019 Kawasaki KX450F, and a 2018 KTM 250SXF with cone valve crap. I'm 195lbs (vet "a" rider) and the 450F is too much of a beast for anything but long flowing tracks. The KTM250SXF is great but could use some low end punch on the motor. The 2013 Honda runs like a rapped ape and is so much fun to ride. I think that year chassis was excellent for a 250F (not as much for the 450F) and this bike is wonderful with the modded engine. I hate to spend money on modifications because they add no value to the bike upon resale but I believe I have the perfect vet weapon. We went up to 270 and made some changes all around. It runs best on race gas but does well enough on pump gas.

The suspension is done by Factory Connection. Very good stuff.
