He was going to send it off that berm if barcia wasn't there. Bowers looks stupid trying to argue this

BS call to DQ him imo. plenty of worse intentional take outs that haven't had the same punishment. Alessi/Tickle Atlanta 2014 incident for example

At what point do the 30-40 guys that show up for what ? Going to be a sad day if 20-25 guys show up for the 450 class. Bowers drove or flew 1500 miles to be dq'd punting a factory rider over the berm. Osborne nearly broke AC legs and then smooth took out JS17 and was given what ??? The AMA is a sorry example to represent this sport.

The point is he made no attempt to turn. The ama can't stand by and watch blatant takouts. Most riders will atleast turn the bars and give the illusion of it being "aggressive racing"

That pass was dumb, and he makes it even worse by bringing Barcia's history into it, makes it obvious that it was intentional. But im not sure its a DQ offence.

What other options are there available to FELD/AMA in this situation? Last gate pick in the LCQ and a fine? Seems more appropriate i would think. It needed something but i would stop short of disqualifying a guy for that.

I do think Bowers is a bozo though.

I don't agree with the DQ at all. There is nothing in that move that warrant's a DQ in my opinion. Especially if you look at the entire context of it , and why he probably did it.

I'll also say.....I don't think he even meant to hit Justin that hard. Justin looked like he slowed down and took a lower line then what maybe thought he was going to take? With that said.....that dismount / strut off was a 10+ move on Justin's part haha. That in itself is worth the GIF !

You can see Oldenburg land too late and come in hot, while going for a pass
Oldenburg has
-no history of this
-no prior warnings
-no issues with martin
Bowers was getting passed
-has warnings
-has prior issues
-has issues with barcia(especially going straight for the leg)
Not to mention Alex was left a lot more room, bowers ran barcia and himself off
Oldenburg and most incidents people or bowers bring up are racing incidents for positions and wins which the ama let happen

No... The inconsistencies and emotional rulings within the AMA and Feld. He even says himself that his actions aren't completely justified, he's bringing a bigger issue forward than just this isolated incident.

You don't like Bowers, I get it, but don't let that blind you into thinking he should've been DQ'ed.

Bowers had to have done something besides just punt Barcia to get dq'd

maybe something he said or did after it happened?

That’s what I’m thinking. Tyler’s mouth has gotten him in trouble in the past. The pass was aggressive but nothing we haven’t seen before. I’m afraid this event will tarnish the good thing he had going with the meetings as well

It warranted a dq in my opinion. Totally rammed right into him.

I think he messed up with saying it was him returning any kind of aggresive racing. I think his only legitimate arguement is he got out of control and couldn’t get on the brakes. If you don’t embrace that then he t boned the Barcia plain and simple. Everyone knows it was not a pass attempt at this point.

I genuinely like Bowers, I love him on Pulp, I think he's funny and a good guy.

But he's a damn idiot on this.

May be some inconsistencies but not in a heat race!!!

Tyler - “AMA needs to hold riders accountable for their actions or it will turn into the Wild West”

AMA - *Disqualifies Tyler for blasting into the side of Barcia knocking the bike literally out from under him

Tyler - “omg this is unfair”

We all know how it would have escalated(look at all the lcq hype) the ama wanted to put a stop to it, punished the rider who initiated with a 1 race dq and put an end to it with a clear punishment, he wasn’t guaranteed the main check anyway( could have been taken out in lcq) and saved both bowers and barcias health and equipment

He brings up a valid point about Gallagher who has in the past made poor emotional decisions...as an official your job requires you to be unbiased and fair...his history of inconsistent off the cuff emotional decisions and just total lack of professionalism is why a competition committee is needed and decisions need to be made after that committee renders a decision after discussion and a vote. Sometimes the decision doesn’t get made for as few days...supposedly they had gone somewhat in that direction to keep Gallagher from making everyone look stupid...well he’s back.
And just in case you were wondering I feel what Bowers did was out of line, not worthy of a DQ but possibly a fine/penalty.
Don’t get lost in his actions and miss the message...

I tend to think Bowers is a tool. But I'm actually fairly impressed with his instagram post. Agree or not, that was a thought out, rational response. He even says he doesn't totally disagree with the judgement, just the inconsistencies. I'd say he's not far off in that regard. He could have jumped online and started crying and motherfucking Gallagher, but he didn't. He's complaining about inconsistencies in officiating and I really don't disagree or think he's out of line for doing so.

I'm also of the mind that there's more below the surface here. I'd really hope what we see in that clip wasn't enough to get him booted for the evening. Surely there's some legs to the "something happened in the tunnel" rumor.

There's no way that the incident was what got him DQ'd. You can see rougher take outs in the KTM JR SX race. Tehre must be something else that prompted the DQ, I just can't fathom how that hit would justify it. Would love an explanation from JG.
