So I've come to the realization that my 89 CR500 is going to be better appreciated by someone else and figured the world's largest MX forum would be an appropriate place to get an idea on it's value. Yeah I know- about tree fiddy.. Wink

I have the original front end and shock, both have been refreshed with new seals, fluid, etc.
Currently on there is a complete 03 CR250 front end and a 96 CR shock with a late model YZ piston adapted to it. All sprung and valved for a 160 pound really slow guy.

Keihin carb, flywheel weight, PC pipe and silencer. Yep, it's stupid fast.
Tank and shrouds are OEM, with a pair of well worn OEM side panels included. Also comes with a carbon fiber pipe guard.

Opinions welcomed. Not getting out of riding, still have a YZ250 and a KX125.

Post it on big bore addicts Facebook page guarantee a sale... some of those dudes are nuts about the 500’s and are willing to pay decent money for them but I bought a pretty clean kx 500 for $1000 so my point being, Don’t expect a crazy pay day.. unless your willing to sit and turn down less than you want...

Nice bike too by the way

25-3200 I would guess

1200-1500 probably. I'd put the OEM front end back on the bike, it will look better and that's half the sale.

Nope not with the different front end on it... I would say 25 tops.. to a 500 nut it will go for more with the original front end.. but it shouldnt be hard to sale, just depends o what you expect to get..

Uh, at that price I'm up for shipping it. Seriously.

mwssquad827- I have the OEM front end sitting in the garage. My plan was to make the 5 hunny a rider, and no amount of massaging was going to make those boingers work like the newer stuff. I can swap it back in less than an hour. I posted it on the suggested FB page, thank you for that.

mxnick- PM sent

TXDirt- sigh. I knew someone would do it. Still waiting for the inevitable Vitard sprocket bolt comment. Laughing

Not bad. I have an '01 and was wondering the same . My bike was bought new and sitting in the shed since I bought it. 19 years later, still got it. Still sitting in the shed. Had a marriage problem, job redundancy then another so never got to ride it. Then I lost my job again, redundancy number 3. Still got the books and the ballpoint 'Honda' pen when I had it delivered, I didn't pick it up.

People forget Australian Dollars are not the same.
8k is about 5.5 US.
Closer to 5 once you factor in the banks giving you a shitty exchange rate etc.

In the UK 5k pounds easy
I have a standard original one,5k is very realistic, not that I would sell it.

Out of interest what price were the 89s new?

$2500 to $3200 here in the states. Feel like if you did just a little bit of work like retro fit an old front fender and number plate it’d probably help you out

Thread was a year and a half old, bike was sold a couple months after posting here.

Interestingly, there was very little interest in having the modern front end and shock on the bike. So I brought it back to stock and sold the custom shock and front end separately.
