My kids arent big enough yet (almost though) but Ill have plenty of fun until they are. Do I want an older carb version, or has anyone ridden the 2020 with EFI?

I have a 2019 CRF250R so I wanted them to match, not that it matters. Then I saw the 2020 has fuel injection.

The '19 has fuel injection, too.

Shouldn't make much a difference in terms of riding or performance, but it will be better for reduced maintenance and more consistent starting. The biggest benefit I would see for a bike in this class is that it won't flood when the little ones down it and leave it lying on it's side with fuel running. On the downside, it picks up a few lbs from non FI models.

Find a used one for under $1500. They'll outgrow it in a few years and you'll more than likely get out of it what you paid for it.

Thanks I didnt know that. Anyone compare the 19 and up vs the older carb versions? Ive never disliked carbs, but EFI is pretty nice on mx bikes...

Dont know if it matters much on a 110

Friend has one. Cool little bike. I seriously doubt it’s any advantage over a carb other than ease of starting after sitting a while. The bike isn’t any faster than a KLX110.

One of the biggest issues with all playbikes is they are jetted way too lean. This makes them hard to start, especially when cold. I would think EFI would eliminate this. If you buy an older one, plan on changing out the jets. The added cost may not be worth it unless you plan on keeping it as a pitbike after your kid outgrows it.

I just picked up a 2016 with 1.8 hours on it for $1000. Not a scratch on it. The money we saved will be put to use with a few riding lessons and upgraded gear if he sticks with it. As mentioned, yes the EFI does guarantee easier starting, but the risk of an occasional flood and a $2 spark plug isn't worth the extra $ to me, at the moment.

But you'll love riding it so much that you'll keep it around anyway instead of selling it.

The 2019 has a way cooler frame too

Just got a 19 Honda, like it a lot more than our 19 klx110. If anyone wants a 19 klx110 I have on in Florida for $1800

That new crf 110 is so nice i beat the hell out of mine and it has zero issues. The only thing that sucks is no one is making plastic for it yet that I’ve found anyway

Who is making the new CRF110? If it is Honda's Chinese subsidiary see how they go. Their FI postie bikes are not very good and have fuel pump issues.

If the glass is half full it's twice as big as it needs to be.

The CRF 110 and all the other Honda small bores have been made by the Chinese subsidiary for a long time, with regard to the 110, I think it's entire existence.

Thanks guys for all the comments. Im now looking for a deal on a leftover 2019. Ill run it with bars and an exhaust for now, and I think my eight year old is ready for it now. Its smaller than I thought.

Ethanol is less of an issue with FI as well. Those tiny pilot jets clog easily due to Ethanol's water content, so if you're not starting the bike at least weekly, you're tearing down the carb. Again.
