So sick of them adding sx sections and timing sections to an outdoor motocross track.. let it get beat up and more ski style jumps would be cool.. also no need for 160ft booters.. man gp tracks are so much better these days

The mxgp tracks seem to sweep and flow better than the 180 degree point and shoot style us tracks these days.

But this isn’t only about hangtown, it’s about all tracks. Every track has had to add their own “laroccos leap” just leave the tracks alone imo. These are all iconic tracks on the circuit minus maybe iron man as it’s newer..

Count me on board. Only thing worse is some of the local tracks that have become outdoor supercross tracks. Lots of ambulance runs.

I like the bumps. The never-ending jumps are what suck. Maybe just a couple here and there. Moto is about going fast on the ground.

Yep the huge jumps suck! Like I️ said some ski jumps would be cool, or a hip double. Motocross is about fast rough tracks.. laroccos leap is an exception obviously

Keep the SX stuff out. It's one of the big reasons I like the outdoors........it's not SX.

How about can we not till it a foot deep and then soak the piss out of it so the riders don't have to stay in the same rut thru the entire corner?

Add Unadilla to the list. Too many dang jumps now.

Unadilla especially should be basically left alone and natural but somebody, guessing Mx sports disagreees. I think the owners are being pressured by Mx sports to add jumps.

But don't ask DC, he would just deny it

I agree with you but a lot of the GP tracks aren’t any better. They’ve got some stupid big jumps too.

if anyone has been paying attention those type of roller sections in the GP's have made the racing great

kudo's to them for taking out a stupid 150 ft leap and adding something that takes fitness and skill to ride.

Amen. Our tracks get worse every year. Leave them natural.

Please all you jump Nazis go watch flat track. Every track is man made. If you wanna see guys tackle completely natural terrain maybe your thing is actually GNCC racing. Ever think about that?? The bike is man made, the gear is man made, the tracks are man made by man made machinery. Fuck the riders are man made (LOL). Wtf is with everyone’s urge to see “natural” tracks.

Stake it out to enhance the venue’s attributes. Make them unique. Let’em ride, think and adapt. Deal with it and race,

I’ve said it before, but it bears repeating: some of you guys seem to absolutely live to bitch about stuff.
Personally, I’m just a big fan of watching what these guys can do on dirt bikes. Supercross, Outdoors, jumps, natural terrain, doesn’t matter to me.

I actually kinda miss Kenworthys. SX guys would do well there. Huffman for example. Only need one or two like that though. I'll throw my hat in with the rut nazis. I'm sick of them in the corners. I say this every couple years, but go watch Reynard come from wayyyyyy back to DESTROY THE GOAT at Unadilla back before the ruts and other changes came into play. 1998 or 1999 125 class second moto. Watch how innovative he is in the corners. We might never see that style of racing again if we're stickin with rippin. 4ts won't allow it either, but that's another kettle of rotten fish.

Southwick has all the goodies that makes for a great track. With that said, I do agree with op.

What?! Even our local tracks dig it deep and it creates a ton of lines everywhere. I think the slot car stuff comes more from track layout/design or maybe more novice riders that play follow the leader. Even our local races create a minimum of 10-15 lines in most turns. Most Nationals have a ton of lines as well. Deeper the better... slows down the racing, creates more lines and makes the track rough and gnarly.

I'd like to make up an entirely new line if I felt like it. Ruts make that tough. That's what slot car means. There might be multiple rutted lines....but those lines are basically it for the rest of the day. Watch Reynard destroy the goat and tell me ruts are the ticket.

I understand the relation to slot cars but just don’t agree with it because you can cross over ruts unless they’re in a deep clay mud 3 foot deep trench scenario. However deep prep makes the tracks much more rough as well... shallow tracks are typically just slick and have square edge holes. Much more dangerous and not as much skill required to ride them fast. Less separation between skill levels of riders, imo as well.

This is a prime example of US track prep.. I say that cause I don't know about you but I couldn't definitively tell you what track this is, could be any of them.. It's not deep clay and ya not 'crossing over' any of these ruts

And dunno if I agree about 'not as much skill required' takes a different set of skills definitely but not less.. Not saying that none of the tracks should be prepped like that just that not all the tracks should be prepped like that

What is the point of this?! So some C rider goes out there trying to send it and ends up with 2 broke legs? I️ just don’t get it man...

For the most part, I like the way the GP tracks are prepped much better than US tracks. It's nice to be able to change lines in a corner and not be stuck in a giant rut. Someone mentioned GNCC racing if they didn't like it. Well that style of racing is on the rise and motocross (where my heart is) is on the decline.
