Change of awning for Prado?

10/10/2017 12:44pm Edited Date/Time 10/11/2017 7:29pm
The latest talk around the paddock at the moment is that Jorge Prado might be changing awning’s for the 2018 season.

Currently, Prado is under the same awning as Jeffrey Herlings and Pauls Jonass but rumours suggest that the Spanish sensation might be moving to the De Carli KTM MXGP awning.

This would mean he would move away from Pauls Jonass as both are expected to be challenging for the MX2 World Championship in 2018. Perhaps it will avoid any friction between the rivalry? We will continue to keep you updated with any developments on this story.

They should keep them together so they can find a way between them to stop H-Law

This
If the KTM boys battle between themselves, they could easily lose sight of the aussie Honda up front

Should be a great MX2 season next year.
Those 3 plus TKO are gonna battle it out I believe

Don't forget Covington! That class got really competitive after Herlings moved up. Next season is gonna be bad ass to spectate! The MXGP class too for that matter.

Its a smart move IMO, in the same way Cairoli and Herlings are run out of different tents , it keeps the competition fair , with the only winner being KTM.

It is literally the exact same situation as Herlings v. Cairoli, except reversed. Massive fan of Jorge, definitely believe he is more than capable of beating out Pauls in the long run.

Except that next year might be the last year those two race each other.

meant that, more or less, in regards to the duration of the season (as it is a long season), but very valid point. Should've worded that better on my end haha

I meant it because Prado is loosely planned to go stateside in '19.

Plus De Carli KTM MXGP gets a young rider to build on for the future. After so much success & World Champoinships I doubt they will want to fold up when AC222 retires in a few years.

Naah not building anything for the future with Prado, he is moving stateside in a year or two. Jonass is their future MXGP guy.

I think Jonass can raise his game if he gets his health back. He rode very well despite fighting a preseason concussion.

I don't know if Honda can fix a competitive bike for Lawrence in MX2, he needs something that can compete with the orange and white bikes out of the gate, which is easier said than done.

I also have a feeling that Prado will take a real soil sample along the way...that's usually part of getting older and wiser and occurs before championships more often than not.

Jonass does not lack speed, he just did a Cairoli 2017.

I think that we will see Prado do the same thing as Gajser. His development will go through the roof the day when he is done with school and focuses 100% on moto.

I hope he does, that is exciting news along with Lawrence and Gajser planning to head stateside too. The more GP riders the merrier.

He has already said that he will not go to school any more, that he will study at home in the afternoon, so to dedicate himself to the full face of the next season.

Gajser has to win another world title before he can come over, from my understanding.

I think the real reason prado is going to the different awning might be because Prado had a few very questionablele run ins with Jonass. I think there might be some bad blood there hence the move to the different awning.
IF Prado wants to go to America he needs to improve in all aspects. The kids got talent just not enough at the moment to get under the KTM USA truck.
With Prado's expectations of going to the USA it must of been a real slap in the face to see Lawrence get signed to a huge deal over there.

TLD/KTM USA is holding a spot open for him, they think he's got what it takes and were very impressed when he's come over in the winter to ride with the team. They just wanted to give him a year in GPs to run up front and possibly win, build some more as a rider before coming over in '19...

The guy won 3 GPs in his first full season at age 16. What more do you expect? That's the same amount as Roczen
Of course he has to improve but IMO he's on a very good way. Let him finish school and train properly and he will be even better. And KTM knows it. If he wanted to go over to the US next year, he would probably be given the chance.
