So I have a 450 for the track and a 250 2t for trails. The 450 gets high end tires for obvious reasons but the 250 isn't ridden nearly as much and is ridden in some pretty rough places(Colorado has a lot of rock in the mountains lol). Anyways the 250 in need of a new back tire and I'm looking to get something more Enduro specific and cheaper and found the

Shinko 505/525 "cheater" for $66
Sedona MX887 it $61
Bridgestone Battlecross X30 for $73
Artrax SE3 for $63

All are intermediate to hard terrain tires and fairly cheap. I'm just curious if anybody has used one or more of these tires and can give me some insight. Open to suggestions as well.

Depends on what you’re riding. For softer dirt and not a lot of rocks, the Battlecross has been great for me. For more rocky terrain at slower speeds, you’d be hard pressed to find a better tire than the Shinko Cheater at that price point. I’ve ran Artrax on my 125 and while it’s a good tire for the price, it seemed like the side wall broke down somewhat quickly and made the back end a little “springy”, if you will. Those are the only ones I have experience with, and depending on terrain I think you would be fine with any of them.

I've had much fun and good results with the Sedona and am now running the Dunlop AT 81. The Sedona has a fun predictable slide, lasting for a long time (on an XC 250). The Dunlop isn't sliding, but is lasting and sticking (on a Beta 500).

Yeah I fixed it. Don't know why I had Michelin on the brain. And it's going to be Rocky harder terrain. I was leaning toward the Shinko but curious if other people experiences.

Shinko no doubt.

It's an awesome tire. Haters gonna hate because of the name, but Shinko is putting out some quality tires these days.

The shinko cheater is amazing for traction on rocky terrain. However, It's quite soft and gummy compared to the others so I wouldn't expect it to last very long.

Yeah the description of the Shinko says it's a softer compound rubber which kinda worries me against rocks

I think the extra $15 for a real tire is worth it. Ive had kendas on my dirtbikes and my supersport had shinkos when i bought it. Avoid them like the plauge.

After i put on mx3s on my dirtbike and pilot power pros on my supersport it made a world of difference. My dirtbike hooked up and i didnt slide both tires on the street.

Do you have an 18 or 19 rear wheel? The Pirellu MT16 is great for those conditions if you have an 18. 19s are really hard to find.

I bought the the starcross 5 medium and I'm waiting for the MT16 to be worn out, but after that I will see how it compares.

It's a 19" would love to go 18" but I just put the new excel rims on it before I decided to go to the 450.

I would take a Shinko cheater over any Kenda. Get yourself and IRC VE-33 and be done with it.

Shinko all the way. 505 Cheater is the cat's meow in the rocks and is cheap. Does not chew up as easy as you think it would either.

Softer tires grab rock and bend. Hard tires spin and shear off rubber in rocks. This is one days ride in Johnson Valley (rock hell) with a soft terrain (hard compound tire).

Go with the shinko cheater. It's the best tire on the market alongside the Ibex IMO. I love them both for offroad riding.

Great suggestions, but worth checking into an STI Tech 2 Pro as well - Solid tire for moto or offroad, with great durability...Never tried them for true enduro, but they've held up at Glen Helen's 24 Hour Race and on a few rock hard SoCal tracks Cool

If you catch the STI support van at Big 6 races, WORCS events, or REM Saturday MX here on the West Coast, you can usually snag a set for around $100.

I'll vouch for the STI tech 2 tires, I probably won't run another front but the rear is more than capable especially for $50

I already plan on ordering from them. They have turned into my go to site and I actually like a lot of the basic tusk products. I have a 19" run though and when I filter it by 110/90-19 I didn't see that tire but I'll check again. So if these other tires sound like what I'm looking for but I'm curious if they are available in the right size because I'm only using the size filter and not seeing them. I'll search it by brand next time and see if that changes anything

I'm running Sedona on my trail KTM 300 on the rear full season now and using Tubliss setup. No more pinch flat and a tire that works in all conditions and long wear. Very happy.

I have the Sedona tires and they were terrible. I threw them up in the shop attic and purchased some Starcross'. But yea, go with the Michelin.
