This is neat. Gas and electric together plus it has their awd.

My boss at my engineering research firm asked me to come up with 'passion project' to do some research/developement on. I was wondering if there was a hybrid dirtbike/motorcycle in the works.... guess I'll have to keep brainstorming Sad

That's pretty damn cool. Biggest turnoff to Christini is that the core bike is a second gen crf ripoff and it's still half Chinese. They upgrade the suspension and whatnot, so that's good, but the US military contracts for these half Chinese bikes still hurts my insides.

Looks like the electric motor sits above the SI motor and drives it with a belt like many P0 entry level hybrid cars. I assume it has regen. I wonder if you could make a direct drive electric motor worth while. I also wonder what their end goal is with this machine.

With the plethora of power in a 450, I wonder if you could use a cvt to make a better mx bike to compete with the alta. Just thinking outloud...awaiting smarter/more sober minds than mine to chime in. The new goldwing has a DCT fwiw.

That thing needs a chainguard, I could see it taking some toes! I think Alta was working in a hybrid bike for the military also, I bet a certain range of electric "stealth" capability is a requirement. 239lbs is unbelievable, super cool!

A guy builds a 2wd, hybrid electric dirt bike. Vitards reply by complaining that it’s a two generation old Chinese knock-off that needs a chain guard. FFS, I hope there’s not a scratch in the swingarm! SMH

I have a 07 prototype Christini built on a 250 crf 07.
The bike was so good that I ended up adding a ktm Awd 300 to the mix.
Anyone interested in a deal on the ol Honda?

How he‘s able to get that awd to work is beyond me.
But if you have a hybrid bike, why not skip the mechanical awd and built the electic motor into the front wheel hub. You would have a front wheel drive only electic mode but the whole bike would be so much less complicated.

A hub motor would add a metric fuck-ton of unsprung weight. Unsprung weight is the enemy of super-responsive suspension designs, and why (expensive) companies like Jitsie can sell lightweight, aluminum rims to the trials crowd, for example.

Cool, kind of interesting he had to fire up the gas engine himself. Shouldn't the gas engine fire automatically when it reaches a certain power demand? Although that might be kind of scary getting half way up a jump face and having the engine fire off.

LeMans car down pit road:
