So I have a 1990 yz125 that I rebuilt, we fixed all the problems except for the clutch. The clutch engages fine its just incredibly stiff. I have already got a new cable and lubbed it. Im thinking on getting a new lever and new softer clutch springs, I just don't know if I should get oem springs or aftermarket. suggestion would be great. Thankyou.
Yeah, like others have said, it should be a light pull. Definitely do not want to put in lighter clutch springs; that should not be needed at all. Check cable routing, basket not being notched, lever is proper for the bracket, fits properly and is lubed.

I'm sure some aftermarket springs are good and some are bad. Mostly, you'll get a different spring rate, stiffer if it's a heavy duty clutch. I run OEM plates and springs in my YZ's.
Someone mentioned notches in the basket, also check the hub for the same.
Check out the little cam area on the clutch arm. If that cam is messed up from wear, it could make your clutch pull harder.
Quadz is probably right, most likely it's cable routing.
Post a reply to: Clutch is super stiff. Suggestion on what to buy to fix it.
