I'm pretty sure I remember an interview with Will Hahn when he was at Geico saying LaRocco was still doing some testing... but it sounded like it was pretty generic and not all of a SX track.
If he had some time to prepare though, of course he could. Would he or would he want too? Probably not.
Like a Boss. As a team manager at Factory Connection Geico I imagine he got plenty of seat time.
I used to love to pick him out of the back of the pack as the one to watch at live SX events (where you can see the back of the pack action) and he would always deliver. He was so fit and in shape he would always grind out a good finish. Great memories.
I remember reading an interview when Bobby Moore was the team manager at FMF Honda & apparently he could smoke all his riders on an outdoor track. I think he'd been retired for at least 2 years.

I do remember that . I think he actually raced a couple nationals that year also to prove a point.

He’s not going to send it on today’s Deathcross tracks. He’s up there in age and probably has a lot more wisdom then to do any of the combos needed to be competitive. So no he would not qualify.

It's much less "Deathcross" today than it was in LaRocco's era - which were probably the most technical tracks of all time.
LaRocco was competitive his entire career. He was continually able to up his game, his speed jump from 2001 to race-winning form in 2002 was one of the most impressive I've ever seen.
He is getting up there, but if he prepared accordingly I think he would be able to make the cut.

Technical and Deathcross like we have today are two separate things.
You guys realize that Mike hasn't raced since 2006, and he finished 10th in the points that year.
He is 47 yrs old.
The vault says he only raced 8 races that year with a couple 4ths. Finishing A1 behind Stewart, Reed, and Carmichael in their prime is nothing to hang your head over.

Sending it in the face of sensibility is literally named after him (Redbud, anyone?)

Post a reply to: Could Larocco still qualify for a main?
