Dangerboy has just moved up to 85cc.

What are your thoughts on this kid? Future SX/MX star? Will he burn out? More Pastrana than a McGrath?

As long as he doesn't get burnt out he'll be a pro

At his age he seems to have the skills to compete with the best amateurs around, he's won AMA titles, access to top coaches, private tracks and his dad has the money and resources and industry connections to help him along the way. Like TymeMoto says unless he gets burnt out I don't see why he won't turn pro.

Kid should be very good for sure. I know when I was his age if people were calling me a rad nickname like Danger Boy I would have felt like a total Bad A$$.

Vital news is 100% true 30% of the time.

The only advantage i see with Haiden over AC and AF as ams is Brian built sx tracks to scale for 65’s. So this kid has been riding and getting accustom to sx for a few years now and it hasnt been on a full scale track he had to roll like AC and AF did on superminis. He was learning his timing, etc from the start.

Haiden has a serious passion for the sport and his dad has a lot of knowledge & wisdom about what to and not to do. I think the Kid has an excellent chance to be a successful pro racer. He sure is fun to watch.

The first time I heard Eli's name over the PA system at Mammoth I turned to my friend and said J Tomac has a kid racing minis? If he dosn't get injured or burned out he will be a champion. I think Haiden makes enough money from endorsements and whatnot to make it to the next race, so I already consider him a pro. Not only will Deegan make it. I don't see him not being a champion. Brian is no JT but he knows the formula well enough

John Tomac has a wildly different attitude than Deegan. Unfortunately, Dangerboy's career will probably be closer to J-Law's than Tomac's. All the talent and amateur success in the world can't make up for the rebel-without-a-cause mentality.

Understand where you're coming from but using Osborne as an example doesn't help the argument because he's almost 30 years old and at one time he was also a former amateur phenom who struggled as a pro. Had to go to race the GP's for 5 years even.

But compared to Webb, I agree. They haven't been able to get to his level.

There are some youtube videos out there that prove this mentality wrong. Brian is very careful to make sure Haiden doesn't go down the same path he did in his racing career.

Always thought this clip was so badass: https://www.instagram.com/p/8yc5M9xRB2/?hl=en&taken-by=dangerboydeegan

Interesting how some some people are weirded out by a 10 year old going by a nickname...I think Brian Deegan is going about this in a great way. Still in school while still being serious. I see videos of them training and working on technique with Ryno pretty often.

He's a kid. He is really fast. He has been blessed with opportunities and seems to understand the importance of making the most of his opportunities. But------he's a kid. Time will tell.

BTW, Bryan Myerscough was the fastest minibike rider I ever saw (faster than Wardy). Bryan didn't accomplish the same success as a pro-----but was virtually unbeatable as an amateur (queue up the Sean Kelley fan boys for a debate)...... Shit sometimes happens along the way that shifts the sands of destiny.

Brian seems like a good father. Haiden is just a kid. He can do whatever he chooses in life, I’m sure.

He will likely be a champion someday, and if he chooses not to follow that path, that’s ok too.

Yup, same here. I also liked that he played team football. My feelings on mini kids are if they have the God given talent, they will make it to the top level regardless of the amount of am titles they have or don't have.

You must not have seen the interview with Deegan where he talks about how hes not letting Haiden get into that 'rebel-without-a-cause' mentality' you speak of, due to the reputation Brian had years ago. He's done a great job of raising his kids with their heads on straight. He just posted a video of his other son Hudson in the middle of a race (I think the mini major?) where these two kids crash in front of Hudson, and he stops and turns around MID RACE to help them and see if they are okay, while Haiden came running from the sidelines. I think that shows pretty well that Brian and his wife have done a great job of raising their kids to be class acts. Plus, the kid clearly already has some insane bike skill. I say stamp it that kid is a multi-time 250SX champ if nothing else.

To be fair the BamBam nickname was given to Barcia because of the way he rides. It's not like he starts an Instagram video or whatever and addresses himself as BamBam. I've never seen one of his clips start off as something like "Hey guys, BamBam here..."

The whole Danger Boy thing is pretty lame if you ask me and I'm not sure but I think it's Brian that started the whole thing.

That said Haiden is still a kid so who really cares but if he continues to address himself as Danger Boy when he becomes a teen then maybe people will have a reason to complain about it.

"Sorry Goose, but it's time to buzz the tower."
