Sad to learn that Dave Miller passed away today. The guy was a pure moto artist, building some of the coolest stuff we’ve ever seen. I was lucky to know him and learn a thing or two from him back in the day. Thanks for the memories and good times Dave!

Sad news. Condolences to family, friends and moto connoisseurs the world over. I'm just going to leave these here in his memory.

"John Kitsch II No that was a Dave Miller project bike 1987 for me to ride Las Vegas world min GP. He sold it (Jeremy Albrecht's brother got it for Ponca 87) for like $9200-$9700.
When I test rode/raced it at Paris (Ca) in a GP race ,6th gear 1/4 mile straits passing 250's like nothing. That bike had everything that new bikes have (except upside down forks)"
"Piggy back shock, removable quick change clutch cover, lowboy tank, hand made swingarm, used yz brake system on rear then the motor ....all kinda shizit"

Man what a loss. I never met DM personally, but I was lucky to have owned a number of his works of art, and conversed with him many times on said transactions. Always helpful, and dang mechanical genius.

R.I.P Dave!!

So sad...Dave was a class act. He was a really cool guy. I will always consider him the best of the best. Here’s a picture of my DG XL75 frame that Dave texted me when he was giving me a progress report on his work restoring the frame and building my pipe.

Damn, this is really sad to hear. RIP Dave. He did the engine and carb on my 88 KX125. That thing was everything a modded bike should be. It was fast, had great usable power and was super reliable.

R.I.P. Dave and condolences to his family. Saddened to hear this. I had reached out to him at the start of the year to see if he wanted to work on a custom 89 KX-125 project and now I know why I had not heard back. He had built me an 87 KX-105 mod bike that was just as sweet as it gets and man am I sorry that I did not keep that bike as it was a treasure! DMC

I worked for Daves brother John at UFO and had the opportunity to spend a lot of time with Dave. Dave was a real craftsman and a real good guy. Preyers to the family.

Dave Miller showed me some of the welding he had done on a frame he was building, it was as good welding as I've ever seen

My condolences to the DMC family. I had a 1988 KX 125 that was all DMC’d out with pipe, silencer, KIPS spacer, and some tuning advice from Dave himself. Godspeed Dave.

Everything is sano at Miller Mano.
Yamaha OW100. The core bike was a 1983 YZ100-K Model.

“This concept is built to compete in the ‘Marty Tripes 100cc Works Revenge Series’ and is just one example of what can be used to race in it. I hope you like it.”

Dave Miller

YZ100 engine. “The engine is basically a stock YZ100 engine that has been stripped of it’s black finish and blueprinted. Other than the obvious DMC-tuned exhaust pipe and alloy muffler, the jetting is stock from 1983. There are plans to hop the engine up, but right now DMC is just in the development stage and are satisfied with testing the suspension and handling with a stock engine. The engine also sports a DMC Yamaha ‘tuning fork’ ignition case. We also switched the drive system from the heavy #520 to the lighter #428 chain and sprockets.”
Frame mods: “There is some re-welding and gusseting to ‘known’ problem areas as well as ‘jig’ checking for overall spec and alignment. The frame is powder coated black.”
Body work. “The gas tank is a ‘brand new’ OEM tank that is correct to this model and was located at a Yamaha shop in South Africa (I love e-Bay). The fenders, side panels and air box cover are DC Plastic units. The air box cover has DMC venting mod. Front number plate is from a Honda CR85. All graphics, logos and backgrounds are built by my ‘homies’ at Team Swolen. The seat cover is a quality replica from a Canadian company. We put the DMC ‘tattoo’ on. All oils (engine, suspension, drive) are from Spectro.”
Rear suspension: “The rear suspension uses an aluminum swingarm from a YZ125 model. The swingarm has been modified to accept the lighter non-floating rear brake assembly. The alloy ‘bell crank’ linkage is from a larger YZ model. It offers different rate curves for heavier riders. It is connected to the swingarm via an adjustable DMC push rod. The shock starts out as the stock YZ-K model that is modified by Noleen J6. the shock has a hard-coated body, new piston and valve design, rider tuned spring rate and internal reservoir mod. Travel is 10.5 inches.”

Forks: “The 43mm forks, triple clamps and front disc brake are from a larger Yamaha 175cc model. The forks have been internally modified by Noleen J6 with heavier springs and damping changes. The fork stanchion have been machined to reduce weight. Fork travel is 10 inches.”

A classic Dave Miller touch. Two-tone hubs.

Former 125 Pro Dave Miller brought his Yamaha YZ100 to a local REM race to break it in.

All us 50-year-olds remember DMC made works 80cc rockets. Those images formed what we realized was possible. His work was very instrumental for MX bike design progression. RIP

Dave was incredible. I only spoke to the man maybe a dozen times in my life, but every time my mind was blown by how brilliant he came across, all in a humble fashion. The last time we talked was a while back, and he was discussing a possible project he was going to pull off....... putting a fuel injected Chevy small block on a go-cart. I laughed my ass off at the mere thought of it, he calmly said "why not?!?" Whether it happened or not, I have no idea. But I can promise you, he could have easily pulled it off....... and it would have looked, and performed, perfect. R.I.P. Dave Miller
