Matt Frey (last link from FTE / 700 feet) was a very good friend of my family. Can't believe it's already been 13 years since his accident. A horrible day for anyone who knew him or his parents

There's thousands reaching back to the 19th century throughout the west, many if not most uncharted. I believe what they do is plug or grate the shaft when action is taken, not fill.

I'm friends with his Dad, I see him at CED now and then, I don't bring up the subject of dirt bikes obviously. I know he (Dad Jim) was trying to start a program to get them covered or at the very least well marked, but the amount of them combined with the logistics of getting the materials needed to the site make it a daunting expensive task. One time when my kids were younger we on a semi narrow trail near Charlies place, went up a hill and rode within 5 or 6 feet of one on the side of the trail. The top was funneled shaped like a trap, sketchy as fuck, especially when you have both your kids on a kx65 and a ttr125 in the group. Didn't phase them but it freaked me the fuck out, and later my wife was thinking about how close we were (she knows the Frey's too) and she started dry heaving and crying. We don't even camp there anymore. Scary shit
