Really? Cotton holds all the moisture until you have a wet, heavy and hot jersey.

I have a lot of old gear - a set of Answer gear from 2001 ( that I STILL fit into!! ) that is still in great shape, 2 pairs of Fly gear from 2008 that are still holding up great and a bunch of Thor gear from the past few years that have yet to wear out.

Like others here - I dont give a shit about "style" and I'll wear old gear any day of the week. Dont care.

Earlier in the year I wore some old answer gear and a kid on a 65 said, "where did you get that vintage gear, I used to wear that on 50s". That gear will likely get used a few more muddy rides.

Gear doesnt wear out anymore. 600d is some tough stuff.

if I had one set of gear maybe the knees would be wore out but with 4 sets It pretty much looks like new all the time. I usually but two or three kits a year.

Get a sponsorship from mxsponsor and you can get some great deals. 50% off brings the price down real quick.

I must not ride enough, my gear goes out of style before it wears out normally.

My knee braces wear through the knees first and I had a set that burnt a huge hole in the leg from my exhaust but most gears brands are pretty much indestructible.

How long is too long to keep wearing a set of gear before it is vintage?
How long? The pros only wear a set of gear for one moto. So about 35-40 minutes. After that your gear is a fashion faux pas.

I buy bland grey, silver, black and white gear.
To me it never goes out of fashion. It suits my Vet novice speed. I still use a mix of gear from 10 years ago.

I would just be happy to buy gear that didn't have the gear manufacturer's name emblazoned on it as the dominant graphic. Some of the new Thor jerseys are pretty cool, except they have Thor emblazoned on the front where I might want to put a bike manufacturer name instead. After all, I'm paying you to wear it, not vice versa.Angry

My theory is that if someone likes the look of the gear, they don't need to be told it's Fox, Fly, Thor or whatever. They can find it by the look. I left the A-Stars stuff out because anyone who likes it is probably just on a weekend pass from the asylum and thinks it's another Rorschach test.Dizzy

Last time I bought gear, in '13, it was pants only, from the year old clear out rack. Wear a XXL white spandex long sleeve shirt. I like to use the money I save on gear, for post ride treats. Like Ben Gay, and 14" loaded double cheese pizza.

I can ruin a new pair of pants in one moto session. I'm abnormally tall, so for whatever reason I have a tendency to eat up the inner calve and knee area from gripping/rubbing my bike with my legs, along with constantly burning the right leg for similar reasons. This has happened multiple times. Kinda hurts when you pay $120 a pop.

I usually buy 2 of the same jersey. I had a brand new Shift jersey a couple weekends ago when I broke my collarbone and they had to cut it off. I've learned to have a very, very short relationship with my gear, unfortunately. For one reason or another, I can't seem to get much mileage out of gear. Good problem for the gear brands.

I'm cringe when I see grown men commenting on Mx fashions.
My pants got shredded in a 2 turn Pile-up so now I've got a jersey that doesn't match and I'm got be the lone-ranger if I turn up in mismatched gear!
My shot pants wore out quick, my Alias pants tore way too easy. My TLD Se gear is going strong but are heavy v the other pants mentioned.
I'm going black from now on.

Good subject / point. I have two sets of Troy Lee that are a few years old that still look like-new (granted I haven't been riding much the past few seasons, but that's back on this year). The white has even stayed clean. I want new stuff, but don't quite need it.

I'm anxious to see the new Fly stuff. I've always *wanted* to wear it to support the Pulp show, but I've just never dug their design style...its always felt behind and a little dated to me (in terms of the visual design of it, not physical) (sorry JT - but its just subjective). I think it will be cleaner and more minimalist this year; if so, I'm in.

Everyone is different - I think when you literally grow up in the sport, it matters. And I even heard Bradshaw himself talk about how he was looking forward to choosing his own gear this year for a change instead of having the rep just send him "whatever". And for myself, I'm a designer - I pay attention to gear design and look forward to seeing new stuff every year.

I have great luck with the gear I have been buying I guess. It's all in great condition. The problem I have is getting the dirt stains out, I just bought '18 gear yesterday and went with all darker colors to help hid the dirt stains.

This could be a whole other topic but do you guys all tuck your jersey's in?

I do and just think it's wrong not to, like you look like not a real mx'r. I get when your jersey comes out like Anderson but I see dudes at the track not even make an effort.

I still have 2 or 3 sets of brand new 2005 TLD gear. I got hurt in 05' and all my gear sat for 6 years. I had about 6 sets I had never worn yet. It still fits me like it did in 05' which is cool , but I'm kind of making the switch to Fasthouse. Still wear the TLD when it gets crappy out.

What is this "style" you speak of? I used to race a honda so I wore red/black and white. Then I raced a Yamaha so I wore blue/black and white. Is that style? Honestly, I wore No Fear jerseys for their fit and durability. They're gone so I wear Moose for the same reasons.

I have some Fox gear that I swear was made to not tuck in. The jersey fits but it's not long enough to tuck in without being pulled tight and then it comes out anyways.

Anderson admitted he doesn't even tuck it in.

I prefer the brighter stuff for riding, but that's a great style tip in general, if you're into that stuff and happen to be tempted by something "on trend." Cool

All my sets is pretty low key. Black helmet, white boots. And mostly black and gear. No colors except for gloves but they doesn't last that long. Keepin' it clean and simple with other words.

Depends on what it is really. I got some Fox 360 gear in December '16, it was from the 2015 release and I got it at like 40% off or something like that. I only just started using it at the start of '17 now I don't see anyone else using it so looks kinda unique and their designs usually stand the test of time.

Also got some Thor Pro Circuit gear that I rarely use, it's from like 2013 I think, I got it for free with my bike. Looks cool.

I still have three sets of Alloy Viper gear that I bought on closeout in 2005. Bullet proof stuff. It's a shame they folded.

Gear never goes out of style. These pictures are from last year. Even my googles and boots are older.

I guess I am not in the cool crowd here, I like my gear to look good. I buy everything on closeout, but I still like good looking gear. Plain white helmet goes with everything too.

I can probably count with my fingers on one hand before I have two big holes on the inside of my knees, so no. Unfortunately I have to pay for my own gear so I have to run with them anyway Tongue

Try some of the MSR gear. It will come apart on you before it goes out of style!
