"I already said that I won't ride the ‘Nations this year. I know this track and you guys [Adam Cianciarulo and Justin Cooper], you are not going to understand what is going to happen. You are going to get passed by guys you never heard of before. It is just a track in The Netherlands that is crazy. It is the biggest sand you can find and I had a long season

I liked Ferrandis’ race craft from that first SX Heat race in 2017. I’m glad he came over.

I still find the venue sort of interesting. All the time and money to set up a temporary track when there are so many tracks to choose from. How far in advance are the tracks selected for the MXoN? When they made the plans for Assen they had to know it would effect the number of AMA guys who would want to come join in. Maybe that was the point?

When they made plans for Red Bud, they had to know it favoured the AMA guys who would be racing, no?

When it's just ASSUMED that Tomac doesn't want to race this year's mxon, he gets a shitload of criticism. Now here we have Ferrandis who is for sure declining to race it AND encouraging American riders to decline as well. Yeah ok.
Yes it will be a tough track for u.s. riders, but no way in hell do I believe that the u s. has no chance. Even with a crash by Dungey, Barcia's front brake locking up, and Baggett stinking it up, we placed 3rd overall at the mxon in Lommell in 2012. This team is just as good as that team was.
All we need is decent luck and decent starts to podium, and a win is not out of the question by any stretch. Cooper won't get around that track as fast as Prado, and our 450 guys won't get around that track as fast as Herlings, but these boys are all capable of running near the front in their classes. They're all capable of good finishes, and capable of the best overall score.
Ferrandis is scared. Fine. Sit it out. That doesn't mean Zacho, Anderson, and Justin should. It doesn't mean they can't do well.

Its doesnt matter if you finish 2nd in your class, but finish 15th in the moto. You must start up front and finish up front. Do we have a chance, yes of course, its MX. But the reality is that we stand a very small chance at winning. I think the fact that JA wants to prove something, ZO is just a gnarly dude and will give it everything, and JC is a great starter and can sprint the first few laps, give us an outside chance. Also given that a number of the GP sand specialists are hurt helps out. I think the GB team has a good chance. The sand at Assen is beyond gnarly. God luck to those 3.

It's racing and anything can happen. Let's go and do our best with no pressure. No one expects a US win at Assen.

Dylan was just covering his ass knowing that there was no way he would get picked for Team France. No recent experience on the GP sand tracks and too much talent in the French federation

No he’s realistic about what type of ‘track’ this is. We will come back to this after MXDN

Its sad to see the perception, prestige and honor of Des Nations slipping away for riders, especially after all the effort RC put in to ride for his country and honour the event. I get schedules have changed since then, but still, its a bummer.

Dylan already won the mxon twice. He would for sure be the #1 pick. But this guy is already 25 trying to make as much money now as he can in the 250 class and secure a good 450 ride for 2021. If your small brain can't handle this easy logic, you shouldn't post your bullshit in forums, making yourself look very silly.

Watching the 450 part, doesn’t look that bad. Looks like a fun track. The should be fine. Win? Maybe not but not as DF describes. Ck out the 450s in this youtube, (after the track breaks down)

I’m so tired of hearing about the MXON. Believe it or not, this isn’t the most important race of the year for either side of the pond. It’s just bragging rights.

Kind of looks like what the FL boys already train in.

For a whole lot of people it is the most important race of the year. We are talking about some of the most competitive people in the world racing for national pride. For them and thousands of their fans bragging rights mean a lot. Not everything should be done for a check. It’s cool if you don’t care for it though.

Have you seen the crazy crowd ? Actually no MX race other than the MXdN can bring a SX level attendance, and all are core fans like at the Nationals.

You my friend are absolutely out of your mind. Dylan is far and away a better pick than Tom Vialle. Tom is a great young rider but not even close to Dylan yet. Remember when nobody knew Dylan and he helped France win the MXON on a sand track, and beat our established guys. Get educated on the sport before rendering ignorant comments.

Yeah I know what you're saying and how the mxon scoring system works. When I said all three of our guys were good enough to run near the front in their classes, I just meant that Zacho and Ando can run near the front in the 450 class whether it's here or in Europe. Even in sand. Likewise for JCooper. I feel like he can run up front in the 250 class anywhere, but I do realize that even if he's top 3-5 among 250s in the mxon, he wont be crossing the finish line in the top 3-5.
With that said, I think those three can produce a very good average finish if they get decent starts and don't have mechanical issues. I agree that our odds of winning the event is not as high as some other countries, but these are strong and determined riders we have and if the Dutch or French have any bad luck, we can pull it off. Bad luck does occurr in these events on a regular basis too.
Indeed the Dutch and French are the most likely to win it with the riders they are fielding. I think the Dutch are the best bet since a halfway healthy Herlings is a sure bet to go 1-1. Combined with 2 Sid teammates, I'd have to bet on them over any team. GB should be stout. I can see the u.s. slugging it out with GB for the bronze, or even higher if the French or Dutch have any disasters. I'm anxious to see how it goes. Especially with Zacho and Ando, because they are firece competitors who will be there to brawl and they won't hesitate to get aggressive. Its gonna be fun to watch no matter the outcome.

Well first off they made changes to the most important part of the track at Red Bud, the start. Second, the gp guys race multiple times during the year on a surface very similar to red bud so it was kinda known they at least had a baseline to go off of on bike set up. Assen is nothing like anything here and nobody here has any type of notebook for setup on that type of sand. Again just ask Marv or Dylan and they will prob say something similar. The powers above in europe probably assumed a US win at Red Bud so they had to schedule a mxgp flex our nuts on something AMA guys cant practice/train for type of track the year after. Im sure the riders know way more about it than any keyboard warrior on this site and thats why many are skipping. Just calling it like i see it...

Did you forget Ward, Dungey, and Bailey and several others that raced five or more times. RC isn't the only one that ever put forth effort.

The more i think about it the more im convinced that the schedule makers who chose Assen had to be aware that it would effect participation from the other side of the pond. They must not have cared. I think its kind of ignorant to think it didnt cross their mind when they scheduled an event on a special kind of sand that nobody here has seen that the gp guys race on every single year...

So the netherlands shouldn’t be able to hold a MXON because the soil they have in their country isn’t ideal for team USA? Get outta here 😂

Never said that. Lommel looked fabulous on tv this past weekend. To me the distinct different sand is similar to if last years mxon was on a sx track. Again you dont need to read what im typing just look what the riders are doing... not going. The riders here have no notebook or testing on that type of track so why waste their time when the race falls at a rather inconvenient time. Why didnt the gp guys race monster cup last year when they were all already in the country?? Its the same reason nobody wants to waste their time in the assen sand. At least the monster cup pays, all the haters on here bashing team usa when a guy on the teams bank account went up a million dollars. Ignorance...

Watching the GP's last week, there is no 450 rider in AMA Motocross right now that could hang with the top GP guys at that track or any GP track. Period. Not even Tomac on his best day. 250's...forget about it. Prado is maybe the greatest 250 guy ever. It's just a different level of skill. So for guys to mention "sand", yea, it's a big deal. Our tracks are nowhere near as beat up and knarly as GP tracks. I still hope we go to MXoN and race. I've always enjoyed seeing how the world stacks up against each other.
