Hey everyone,

I’m making a trip over to California for A2. I got the weekend off and need to get away from the frozen tundra here. I have no idea where to sit. I’m thinking the 238 area or somewhere in the 300’s if I can get in the first row. Which would be a better pick?

Also, I’ve booked a hotel in Santa Monica for my stay and just figured I’d take a bus over to the stadium Saturday morning and spend my day there. Are one day passes available or would it be cheaper to Uber? It said it’s about a 2 hour bus ride. I’m just rolling solo, if that helps.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

I’ve sat in the 200s and the 300s before. I prefer the 300s near the first few rows because it is just high enough to see the whole track but still close. The 200s and lower are ok but depending on the location you may not be able to see certain sections.

Rookie mistake....do not stay in santa monica... thats literally almost a 2hr drive to get to anahiem...
Do not take the bus.. you will spend like seriously 4 hrs on it to get from santa monica to anahiem.
look for hotels in OC, so like yorba linda, placentia, brea, anahiem, santa ana or orance (all closer proximity to stadium)
if you want beach action, stay down in newport or costa mesa or Huntington beach.

it may be more expensive but you might want to rent a car, because places are spread far out, out here.

Well I’m flying in Thursday Morning and flying out Monday and Santa Monica is close to LAX. Since I won’t have a car, I wanted a place on the coast that I could walk to/around. I know it’s a ways from Anaheim but figured I’d rather spend the rest of my time over there since there’s the pier and Venice and all that. I can still cancel my reservation for free, but I just wanted to get it at least booked while it was still available.

I was looking at places in Huntington Beach but they are pricey and it didn’t seem like there was a whole lot to do without driving.

Well in that case, then you can be good staying out there. Santa monica is very touristy and you can check out venice beach and such along with the pier and the outdoor promenade.

Good to know, I may just have to eat the extra $100 of sitting in row A of one of the 300s. Wanna have a nice seat for my first Anaheim experience!

And yeah, I use Uber quite a bit.

I personally love the 200s because they are under the 300 balcony and will keep you dry in case of rain. But if you don't mind risking that, i'd say save the money one the 300s and do the bottom of 400s. Literally right above 300 and way cheaper. 300 level is the box level so thats why it's so much. Everything is pretty private there. May get to see some famous people up there though haha.

Über will get ya ANYWHERE out here. You'll want to stay near the stadium Sat night if possible. It's easier if ya have somewhere "walkable". If not, walk to a nearby hotel and Uber from there.

300's is the best by far! (Unless it rains)
1/3/2019 9:48pm
We'll be there, likely in the 300's. I prefer sitting up higher so i can see the entire track. Plus, during practice and qualifying you can sit basically wherever you want, so if you'd like to get close to the riders that's your chance.

You sticking around Sunday for Amateur SX? I'll be racing on Sunday.

Okay, that sounds perfect. Unless anyone here is from that area, I can pitch you a few bucks for gas! Wink

I might be able to give you a ride. Hate to see you take a 2 1/2 hr train ride.

If you stay closer to the stadium, or south of it, Kellen and I (and our crew) might be able to scoop you up on Saturday.

I sent Kellen a message but I thought he was closer to SD. That’s be fun, though! Keep in touch, I’ll be at the stadium one way or another.

Don't ruin your day on the train or on a bus. If you are going to be so far away at least use uber. Please man be sane. And it will get cold during the night show, don't let the 70' day temp fool you. Have fun

They should advertise that above the option to purchase entry instead of below in my opinion. Just looks like a Ralph's ad if you don't read closely.

IMO the best seats besides a suite are at the top of sections 243-249 (doesn't have to be top row, but top 5-10 rows).

It has it's own small concourse, bathrooms and beer garden too and for A2 it usually isn't completely sold out there so room to stretch out.

Agree on the cold. I was there in 2013 and 2014 for A3 and in 2014 the temp was down around 38F by the end of the 450 main. I had thrown some thin wool cycling gloves in my backpack before leaving and I was so happy to have them, as well as a warm base layer that I threw on around 7 PM.

If you decide not to stay in Santa Monica, there is a DoubleTree by Disneyland that I stayed both times and it was both very reasonable and very clean. Even passed my bed bug check! Don't Google Disney and bedbugs.

I stayed at the Motel 6 on Chapman - along the canal 3 years ago and walked back from the race to the hotel. There is a bike/walking/bum apartment path....Don't do it alone. No Uber, $79/night, I was back at the hotel 10 minutes after I walked out of the gates. Check Google maps. Easy stuff.
There is a Denny's in the parking lot of the hotel.

Hotel is OK. It is a truckers hotel. Lots of room for rig parking. Wouldn't book it with company, but I was by myself (in for NAMM show) Hot water, bed, toilet, Denny's. I can live with that.

Who is gonna be at A2? We’re staying in Palm Desert so no chance for pregaming (I’ll be with my older parents anyways) but interested to know what other Vitards will be there. We’ll be there all day

And yeah, prepare for the cold. We were there in 2013 for A1 and it was in the 40s by the end of the night. Even though that’s not that cold, spending so much time in that weather definitely will make you wish you brought a jacket
