Geico Honda 2020

I’m obviously not in the moto industry so i don’t have the inside scoop but is Geico Honda really going to have 7 riders next year?

1. Chase Sexton
2. Jeremy Martin
3. Christian Craig ( when he gets back from suspension)
4. Hunter Lawrence
5. Jett Lawrence
6. Jo Shimoda
7. Carson Mumford

I mean that’s super awesome to have that many riders but why can’t the factory teams carry at least 3 per team. Would love to hear some inside info on this.

Its a big lineup that's for sure, i would bet maybe a couple of those drop off. Who knows what Christian Craig will do, i wouldnt be surprised to see him hang it up. Jeremy Martin is a bit of a question mark on how he'll go coming back after such a long lay off.

As for the amateurs, i think Shimoda is going pro next week, Jett not until next summer. Does Mumfords deal include a year in the pros? If im Mumford im looking around to see if i can get a 2 year deal atleast, even if he has to move teams. Very easy to get lost in a team that big with that many potential front runners. a 12-15 place rookie is doing pretty well, but if 3 or 4 of the other guys are around the podium each week nobodies patting you on the back.

I can see why they'd be keeping an extra rider or two just in case Jmart doesnt come up to snuff, but it just seems like they are about 2 riders surplus to requirements next year.

Maybe Mumford and Lawrence both stay away from SX and go pro at Hangtown. Gives them 2 on each coast and a couple rookies outdoors to throw in the mix. Still its going to be crowded under that tent either way.

It's definitely full. My best guess is that the plan was Craig SX only which would make room outdoors. 3 each coast isn't a huge deal either.

I think Jett is only 15 so he'll do another year in the amateurs, or at least wait until the outdoors next year.

Craig will at best miss the first few rounds of the east coast, and he's not exactly known as an outdoor specialist so he might play more of a fill-in role next year.

Sorry but i think Craig should go, i like the guy a lot but come on, even davalos has had more races under his belt this past years

I don't care what people think but Mumford is not ready to move up. If he does move up it'll be worse than Mitchell Falk.

Really? I wasnt aware of that new rule. I was wondering what they were talking about on the LL broadcast when they mentioned a couple riders racing the pro nats. Not sure how I feel about that rule. If I'm a B rider, I cant go race a few races in B just to see how I do then go race LL C class.. at least according to the rules last I knew. Not saying people dont do that but racing PRO against AC, Cooper, Ferrandis, etc and then going to race AMATEUR nationals doesnt make sense to me. Why did they add that rule? Seems like it was fine the way it was.

I thought I heard on the broadcast yesterday that Jett Lawrence either just turned 16, or will in the next few days. Rumor I saw somewhere was he may race Unadilla or another outdoor this season on his Amsoil Honda, then Geico for SX.

I'm no doctor but if I was Martin I wouldn't be taking the chances of crashing again with metal plates in my spine. One more crash and could easily be paralyzed. Not smart

Jett Lawrence and Mumford not going pro until the end of 2020. 2020 will be Lawrence, Martin(if he's healthy), Sexton, Shimoda, and Hayes.
