... and ended up with this.

2012 Yz125 with an oversized rotor, pc pipe and silencer and a vforce4. I took it out to the track yesterday and it'd have to be the most fun I've had in six months on a bike. No issues hauling my 190lbs around on sand either. If you're thinking about making the switch back to a smaller bike I say why not. If I'm over it in a few months I can grab another four banger. Also got Charlie Costanzo's handy work inside the forks and shock. picked my wife's yz 125 up from him today after having the suspension lowered and revalved. He does brilliant work

I just built a YZ144 and can't get over how muck fun it is. I'm don't with big bikes for a while. Learning to carry speed again is so much fun.

Nice! I went from a 14crf450 to a 14yz250, but lately the only bike I find on the trailer is the 95 cr125. If your a vet rider pop into the "old guys on 125's" thread

The yz was 4k. I ended up being able to put 4800$ in the bank.

I'm 55 years old and did the same thing! Here is the story...

I raced my 450 at Freestone earlier this year. After the first moto, I came in and my wife says, "That is the worst I have ever seen you ride, I was embarrassed..." She was right, the track was super rough with deep deep ruts and I was struggling. A few months later, my 450 was down so I hopped on my sons 250F. I come in after a short ride and my wife says, "you look way better on a smaller bike, why don't you get one instead of your 450..." I started thinking and then decided to go all the way down to a 125. Inspired by Robbie Reynard and got the idea to race it at Loretta's this year. I won my area qualifier on my 450 then sold it, bought the 125 and raced it at the Regional and made it to Loretta's. Love the bike and can ride it longer with better lap times than my 450. Loretta's update: Crashed the 125 two weeks before Loretta's, resulting in a fractured left distal radius. Took me out for 6 weeks, I've got 3 weeks left.

How is a 125 more fun to you? I think a 450 is the most fun motocross bike you can ride.

With a 125 I can say to the bike "You're coming with me!"
With a 450 the bike says "You're coming with me!!!"

I'm adamant that I'll never buy another 450. Things are pigs.

A few years ago, I was racing a 450. My son was on a 125 and I grabbed it and spun like 2 laps. It was SO SLOW after coming off the 450. So I was like, "Nope, not for me". Flash forward to 2 months ago. I haven't rode in like 3 months and I built a 125 for a local kid. After the complete engine rebuild, I test rode it on my track. I was like WOW this thing is good. So, I built my YZ144 (cause I'm 185lbs, lol) and I can't get over how much fun it is to "feel" like I can over ride the bike. I don't know if it is because I hadn't rode or what, but 3 guys have got their 450's and rode my bike and loved it. All I know is, for me at almost 40 years old, right know I love the bike and can't wait to go riding again. I just love it and don't know if or when I will get a bigger bike, but enjoying riding again is awesome.

450s take a lot away from riding. On a 450 you can come to a dead stop In the corner, eat a twinkie, and still clear the double from the inside. Without any effort.

You spend more time tip toeing around on a 450 being gentle, barely on the throttle. You use realistically 3% of its potential as the average weekend rider.

On a 125, you can't clear the double from the inside without hitting everything perfectly. You have to nail your lines, roll thru the bumps perfectly, nail your shifts, keep it wide open and be on it

You get to spend much more time on the throttle, working the clutch, pushing the bike grabbing gears. You use more of the bikes potential, you have to ride better yourself also.

450s ruin it for me personally

The last time I rode a 125 (last year) it felt like I could walk that fast!

But that is a sweet looking bike!

Your first paragraph is the reason why I like 450s. I enjoy being able to mess up in a corner and still have more than enough power to clear an obstacle. The extra power has gotten me out of a lot of binds.

Funny hey. It really is different strokes for different folks.

I'm not going to go any faster than i feel comfortable on on any bike, and it's probably very similar regardless of what i'm riding... but I just find four strokes so boring to ride.

My 350 was the best bike i've ever ridden but the last ride I had I was literally bored.

Yeah, I'm not knocking 125s at all. I rode them growing up as well. After feeling the power of a 450, I'll never be able to go back to anything less.

I love my Yamaha YZ-125!!! I bought my 2005 Yamaha YZ125 and have had it now for 12 years. Excellent reliable motorcycle, I would never own a 250F or 450F 4 banger. I like having a lot of fun when I ride and a 2-Stroke 125 is the way to go. WFO4EVER loves the smell of pre-mix!!!

Last ride on the 125 i swapped out in front of a table and whiskied of the face. HUGE boner air, LOL. If i would have been on a 450, I'm sure I would have looped out.

But it was caused by casing the double before because I screwed the corner on the little smoker. So....
