... and ended up with this.
2012 Yz125 with an oversized rotor, pc pipe and silencer and a vforce4. I took it out to the track yesterday and it'd have to be the most fun I've had in six months on a bike. No issues hauling my 190lbs around on sand either. If you're thinking about making the switch back to a smaller bike I say why not. If I'm over it in a few months I can grab another four banger.

The Shop
I'm 55 years old and did the same thing! Here is the story...
I raced my 450 at Freestone earlier this year. After the first moto, I came in and my wife says, "That is the worst I have ever seen you ride, I was embarrassed..." She was right, the track was super rough with deep deep ruts and I was struggling. A few months later, my 450 was down so I hopped on my sons 250F. I come in after a short ride and my wife says, "you look way better on a smaller bike, why don't you get one instead of your 450..." I started thinking and then decided to go all the way down to a 125. Inspired by Robbie Reynard and got the idea to race it at Loretta's this year. I won my area qualifier on my 450 then sold it, bought the 125 and raced it at the Regional and made it to Loretta's. Love the bike and can ride it longer with better lap times than my 450. Loretta's update: Crashed the 125 two weeks before Loretta's, resulting in a fractured left distal radius. Took me out for 6 weeks, I've got 3 weeks left.
Pit Row
With a 450 the bike says "You're coming with me!!!"
You spend more time tip toeing around on a 450 being gentle, barely on the throttle. You use realistically 3% of its potential as the average weekend rider.
On a 125, you can't clear the double from the inside without hitting everything perfectly. You have to nail your lines, roll thru the bumps perfectly, nail your shifts, keep it wide open and be on it
You get to spend much more time on the throttle, working the clutch, pushing the bike grabbing gears. You use more of the bikes potential, you have to ride better yourself also.
450s ruin it for me personally
But that is a sweet looking bike!
I'm not going to go any faster than i feel comfortable on on any bike, and it's probably very similar regardless of what i'm riding... but I just find four strokes so boring to ride.
My 350 was the best bike i've ever ridden but the last ride I had I was literally bored.
But it was caused by casing the double before because I screwed the corner on the little smoker. So....
