How did it turn out? I went with a 250f. I haven’t ridden since 2000 when I was much younger. And I thought the 450 was entirely too much power. At least until I have had a season to get into better shape. My 17 KTM 250sxf is awesome and seems like it will last me for a while. How are the novice guys that started back on a new or late model 450 doing?? Down grade at some point??

well I cant speak for everybody, but I didnt think my new 450 was that fast. I rode it around a parking lot and it didnt feel any faster than my gsxr-1000.

I dont see what all the fuss is about with them

I went from a 00 KX100 and took a break until 08 and got a 07 WR 450. I rode the bike pretty well, but I only rode desert. It's a lot easier to accidentally grab a handful on a MX track. If you are in good shape, it makes it a lot easier to not get whiskey throttle and send yourself off a berm or lip to a jump with no landing like I did when I first raced a MX track after another 4-5 years off from riding

Jumped from a 03 yz250 to a 08 then 15 yz450. Turned like garbage not fun. Went back to a 2 stroke for a bit. Pulled out the 450 still not fun. Sold it then bought a 14 rmz450. Really fun easy to turn and not overly powerful on the track. Made riding fun again.

My first bike ever was a yz 426 lol...I really don’t see any reason not to get a 450. If a person has decent throttle/clutch control theres nothing to worry about imo.

I started out with a new 16 kx450f last spring. I last rode a 97 cr125 in 2006. At first it did seem like a little much but I have adapted fine. I like that the 450 doesn't have to be shifted much or rev the crap out of it to get over jumps. I have had the bike get away from me due to accidentally grabbing too much throttle. I'm 30 and was in good shape when i got back into riding. Last local race I got 5th out of 17 in +30b/c.

i took a 4 year hiatus after selling my 2014 ktm 350sxf (father hood came a calling) and got a 2014 KX450 and just was not having fun. I felt slow and was more nervous riding, honestly i never feel like i will never get another 450 after that. I traded it in on a '17 RMZ250 and couldnt be any more happy. Even being a bigger guy 6'3 205lbs, i like being able to ride harder and longer on a 250. Im not ashamed to say the 450 scared me lol

I rode as a kid, PW50, XR70, XR100, nothing really fast, mostly in the hills and yard. Rode an RM 125 one time in High School (2009), then didn't ride again until a buddy wanted me to go to the Dunes 2 years ago. He had a spare CRF450X that I rode. Obviously at the Dunes you can't ride with much less than that but it didn't seem overly powerful. I didn't ride again until the next year about the same time at the dunes again on the same bike. Realized I loved it so I bought a 13 KX450. Mainly got a 450 because of the Dunes. I figured if I can ride with halfway decent throttle control I'd be fine. I was right. It did have WAY more power than the 07 450X I rode before, but it wasn't uncontrollable. Rode it most of this summer, then bought a KTM 300XC because 99% of the riding I do is Single track.

I can say that unless you don't know how to ride without the throttle closed or wide open, you'll be fine on a 450 for your first bike.

My nephew went from a XR100R to an 03 CRF450 at 14. I had an 06 CRF250 at the time and begged my sister to trade me because I was sure he was going to kill himself. He didn't and at 22 he's on an 08 CRF, has only broken himself once, and it had nothing to do with the power.

I went to a 450 after a long break. No problems. Been a lot of accidental launches off berms but somehow lucked out and never got hurt. I always say buy the bike YOU want. 450s have a lot of power but by no means is it uncontrollable.

Safe place.....haha....Maybe you should go ride some of those bikes instead of snapping pics of them ......Maybe then you wouldn't feel the need to constantly spread your tough guy image all over here. Better yet, go line up on a full gate somewhere and we'll see how big your balls really are. .....or are you too busy breaking jaws for all that kind of stuff? You crack me up man. Safe place....lol
