I want to believe the Webb of 2015/16 is in there. But so far 2018 is looking a lot like 2017. Yes he had a crash at the start tonight but the qualifying has been awful as have the heat races. At both A1 and Houston. There are rumours of an ankle injury in December, is that it?

I watched a few west coast rounds from 2015 and 2016 this week. He was so crazy fast and dominant. He could put the 250 anywhere he needed. He looks nothing like that on the 450;

He made mistakes in the same sections everyone did. I'd bet he was well into the top ten for speed on his good laps. I actually thought he was riding aggressively again. I still think he'll be alright.
Exactly what I was thinking. He got tagged and pushed off the track, so he came from last.

Yea, this crowd is being a bit rough on Coop. I was going to start a thread about why he’s doing so bad, but then I saw where he was last on the start. Checked out the lap chart, and he did move up pretty quick, and according to his lap times through traffic, he wasn’t too far off pace. Do I think he’s a front runner, no, but I think he’s better than his results thus far. I’ll give him a few more weeks before I throw him under the bus.

Your data is still valid. Roczen and Tomac have a 450 title and know what it’s like to fun the show and be the big guy in a series. Webb is struggling to even be relevant. He got 0 seconds of air time last night and wasn’t even mentioned during the main event broadcast after the start.

I don't know, I don't like Cooper but no one on the 250 class is better than him, he'll just get a 2nd rider spot with a pay check more in line with his potential.

Who’s going to hire him? Same folks that wouldn’t touch Barcia. Someone will because Webb still has plenty of value left in his stock. I figured there would be a pile on Webb this week, not say after a 12th he didn’t earn some shit talking. Las Vegas race aside last year, and his mechanicals and falls I think Webb was the only person to pass ET3 last year. I think it was Oakland, Tomac passed Webb and then he pulled a big quad and got him back, albeit only for a short time. It’s not the bike, Barcia is proving that. Perception is reality and if he perceives his program sucks then it does. Not to make excuses for his performances, but I will, maybe he’s nursing an injury. Maybe it’s in his head, his program etc etc. I hope he gets it together and I look forward to good results and I believe they’re coming.

Edit: Well maybe not the "same" folks that hire Barcia, but some factory.

We are 2 races in, and he has looked uncomfortable at both, he either turns it round, (which he didnt do last year ) or he continues to be 'this guy'.. so a poor SX season, and the pressure is on for outdoors, by which time you really need to be talking about the good rides , who will take the risk , Roger ? he has KTM guys to look after , Kawasaki,.. well Grant might be on his last roll, age wise, but he can still ride, Suzuki .. well thats JGR and they were pissed that he didnt go there before, so maybe no as well.

Husky is wrapped up, so is Honda.. where would you put him, ? The smart money said KTM ,, but after a second mediocre season, would you flick Tickle for him, bearing in mind the drama aspect that follows him round.

I liked Webb’s fighting spirit when he was on 250s, but he hasn’t been the same since he made his debut on the 450 and blew it at the 2016 MXdN.
