I still remember some Yanks and Red Necks saying: "It won't happen in the US, KTM can do it in that second tier championship in Europe but that pile of sh*t will never dominate the US!".

Its certainly hard to complete with ktm/husky when the production bike is better (in my opinion) then the others.
Especially when the 250f has 4-6hp on the rest of the brands. I don't know how japan factory teams can build a competitive motor when there motor is handicapped from the start. If you look at europe MX2 nearly every holeshot this year has been a ktm/husky. Although in america Jeremy martin seems to have his honda dialled with starts.

Alot of people, not all, have their heads in the sand when they say this or that will never happen including manufacturers. GM is the poster child for this mentality. My father still believes electric will not make any headway in the motorcycle/automobile industry and he is not a gas/diesel enthusiast. Just buys what is available with consideration towards price. Whatever makes them more comfortable in their own reality makes them feel better. Challenge and change are inevetable.

LOL ! They've been fortunate to have had some good riders at the top level. KR94 took it to the field on an outdated 2016 Suzuki 450 in MX in comparison to the other bikes. He looked poised to win on the 17 Honda 450 in SX had he not gotten hurt. Seriously though at that level all the brands are pretty good at the factory level. It really boils down to bike set up...

Speak softly and carry a big stick.

I've noticed if you talk to a lot of older guys in and out of the sport, everyone looks down on the possibility of electric and that it couldn't ever possibly be competitive.

The only thing not competitive at this point is the price, which I'm sure will go down.

If you're not mixing gas, you're not haulin ass.

In all fairness, half of the class in MX2 is made up of KTM/Husky's.

much ty. How to spot a paid forum poster/artificial forum traffic producer (see list of actions/phrases below):

Copius pattern amounts of phrases like “Anyone have”..., “Anybody know?”.... and their variations.

Thoughts?
Any help is appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

I am not sure how you can correlate Factory bikes to Production bikes, I guess if you are a one eyed KTM fan than perhaps it is easy.

However....In the US the 450 plate has now gone to Suzuki from KTM, Husky still holds the 250 red plate but JMart is closing the gap

So yeah not all doom and gloom you make it out to be

Current rides: 2020 CRF450RWE and 2019 TC300
Occasional ride for VMX: 1985 CR500RF
Adventure/Road bike: CRF1000L

I would like to see how much money each manufacture spends on all of their races teams in all of the major series.

KTM hired DeCoster for two reasons, to learn first, second was to win. They've earned both. The Man put his trust in RD to prove his skills, and it paid off. KTM has one goal, to win at all costs, and they have proven that. They appear to face all competition with the mindset that they will whip your ass, if not right now, the day will soon come. Rather than toss a budget toward a race team based on a bottom line, their race team IS their bottom line. They are here to win..... and they know if they do so, WE will eventually purchase their race proven equipment. Dungey was a proven champion before going orange, DeCoster as well, and together with the help from the factory have accomplished in a short time the unheard of. KTM means business, and that business is winning titles across the globe. On a side note, what they are doing with the Husky side of things is pure genius..... 5 years ago, would anyone of us stated Husky would claim an SX championship? These folks take moto serious.

Companies are just made up of people, get enough smart people together (like KTM has) and they'll figure it out.

After 30 years of being a Honda Kawasaki Loyalist and cheerleader, I just brought my first KTM this year.

I know my bike is a far cry from a factory KTM, but nevertheless it is the best overall bike I have ever owned.

Here we are five years after KTM first produced e start, and the Japanese finally tip -toe into the water with it?

Don't even get me started on how much the new YZF weighs as compared to the KTM...

I don't think other manufacturers have stopped trying, I just think that there are vastly different philosophies.

I was talking with a KTM employee high up in their racing department a while back, and I suggested that the difference between most companies and KTM was something like this...

Most of the teams are fielded by motorcycle companies that go racing, while KTM is a racing company that builds motorcycles.

He said, "Exactly!"

No doubt, but a broken spirit and an employer who looks at MX and laughs doesn't make for a winning combination. Next?

This seems to be truth... Instead of Honda doing whatever it takes to win, they seem content to adhere to X racing budget regardless of where they end up finishing.... They almost seem content to finish top ten...

KTM now has the eye of the tiger that honda had in the 80s and 90s...
