That sucks. The driver that caused the accident should be paying the medical bills. Might want to look into that.

I have no idea how insurance works but I know my policy has "uninsured motorist" rider. Not sure if that only covers vehicle damage or medical but certainly worth digging into.

Liability will likely cover medical costs... for people in the OTHER car. Pinch

If Sickboy doesn't have uninsured motorist coverage, he may be out of luck.

I thought it was said I n the original thread that it was the other guy’s dad’s truck. Given the lack of insurance/false ID, I’m guessing the driver probably didn’t have a license either. I’m not sure how TX works, but in WA, if you allow an unlicensed driver to drive your vehicle, you can be held criminally liable. Given the lower burden of proof in civil court (preponderance of evidence vs beyond a reasonable doubt for criminal) I’d imagine he’d be civilly liable too. If the dad could afford a 2016 F-150, he’s either (a) got a decent amount of money to pay cash or (b) was able to finance. I am guessing there might be something to go after there.

I’ve been hit twice by uninsured assholes. One was a general purpose dirtbag and one was an illegal who disappeared from the face of the earth when my insurance went after him.

Best of luck, I hope you guys are able to get the help you deserve on this.

Yeah, but that totally sucks for him.. His own insurance may cover it because the other person didn’t have it, but then his premiums and all will also go up because of it. And then he won’t be to change insurance companies because they will see he claimed against his insurance. I mean he could change companies but when they see that he claimed against his before they’re gonna jack his premium too high to change.
Bad situation but it still could have been worse. Glad he’s reasonably ok, to live a decent live after all this!!

The other driver was an illegal. Suing people will get you nothing but big lawyer bills, and in the end thay will take most of what you get, if you get anything. Not to get political but this is why we don't need illegals. They're just 99 problems.


Best option is just try to take care of yourself. The illegal will not be held responsible in any way, shape or form.

I’d work on finding the driver who caused the crash as well. They could be the ones to end up paying the bills. I also hope his truck is covered and can get a new one.

Because when you are here illegally, you are able to disappear. Lots of the cross checks for ID are via your SSN-they don’t have one. Some states will hand out ID without proof of citizenship.

The game goes:
-get an ID (or not)
-get in trouble (crashes, DUI, drugs, other)
-go get a new ID under a new name (or just start using a new name with LE)
-repeat.

Now many in LE are forbidden from even asking about citizenship, so it’s not going to get better.
