I'll admit I've never cared much for Hill because of how he acts towards Steve. I have to say that was a pretty respectful, mature response he gave. The guy interviewing him on the other hand...wow he just couldn't wait to try throwing Steve under the bus. And why? He could learn a hell of a lot from listening to Steve. This dude is terrible on the mic, and totally just kisses Hill's ass.

I thought Hill was pretty reasonable and mature with his take on things- there is a lot more depth to the guy than I thought. He even said Matthes was cool even though he "called me a stoner before I was a stoner." Grinning

The host of this seems to be stuck on bringing up Matthes over and over? Seems like Hill would answer the question completely and honestly and then the interviewer would be like, "Okay, now back to what Matthes said about you years ago..."

I generally find that every group is like a classroom. I really get along with 5%, tolerate 10%, dislike 3%, and 2% are just born assholes. Give or take a few perecent.
Funny, that one of my best friends of all time warns people that he is an asshole. Just born that way. But he will always tell you the truth.

Sometimes it seems the Gypsy guy is trying wayyyy too hard to be cool and fit in. Some things he said in that were super cringe. That’s where Matthes, Blair, DMXS, Pit Pass... etc. win me over as a listener. They don’t try to be bro’s with the guests. Flows better that way.

Never heard of this Gypsy person and the first part of that video was just silly.

But Hill’s take on opiates is absolutely, positively spot on.

After hiring a couple thousand people in my adult life, I’d hire someone with a little residual THC in their system than any trace of an opiate.

I haven't listened to DMXS in many years (didn't know that it was still operating actually) but back then they were the absolute worst at trying to "bro up" riders on their show.

Occasionally they'd get a guest who actually seemed like he had some good info and was willing to impart some wisdom and they'd end up ruining it with their 3rd grade approach to humor.

Maybe they've actually matured a bit, though.

I used to drive a little over an hour one way a few times a week and tried to listen to podcasts to kill the time. Now my "commute" is 6 minutes from getting in the rig to sitting at my desk so I don't bother.

He’s been around for quite a while. He was Aussie Wes Williams around the time of The Motocross Show on Racer X. Hard working kid, loves MX. Sometimes when people try hard at something, they don’t look cool and can rub people the wrong way. Often works out well for them, though.

Or are some people great, some people arseholes and most people somewhere in the middle regardless of where they are from?

Macalpine seems like a flog though, really trying to be the coolest guy in the room. But if you have to act like the coolest guy in the room, you generally aren’t.

Like others have said, Hill seemed totally respectful and mature on his views of Matthes.
