Holeshot Devices?

Anyone know why recently there seems to be a lot of malfunctions happening?
Reed, Cairolli and now Forkner?
Anyone have any insight or thoughts on this?

The addition of the metal grate starts have improved the start gate traction, allowing riders to set their holeshot devices super low.
This means the forks are under serious tension when the holeshot device is engaged, which makes it harder for it to release. So this could be the root cause of some of the issues.... just guessing.

However, I think most of the issues are just down to shear bad luck. I mean Cairolli's incident.... to perfectly time a rock hitting the start device button just as the forks are below the button in order for it to jam on.... chances of that happening again are virtually 0.

I am surprised the factory teams are still using the same basic device/principle. Weren't these first being used in 2000 or so? Seems like there should have been a better solution introduced in the last 18 years as we all know the start is the only place that you can pass the whole field at one time.

"expense" WoohooWoohoo They are about the cheapest mod that you can buy that gives the best results. If you cant afford a holeshot device then you cant afford to race, and if you don't race you don't need one anyway.

Agreed. Kinda takes some of the skill out of starting doesn't it? I've never had anyone beat me to the first turn using one.

I didnt say it was extremely expensive just that its a pointless expense. Everyone needs them since they are allowed. They serve no purpose other than for the start, take them away nobody needs them nobody can have them everyone on same playing field without needing to spend money on them.
