For me, I was at a NMA race back in 1985 at Swan mx in Tyler Tx and the NMA assigned me #433. Funny thing is, that the track in Tyler is on country road 433 and the first three numbers of my social security number are 433.
How did you get your number?
How did you get your number?
Now i'm #11, and i chose that becuz i told myself , i was gonna try and go, 1-1 in all my motos, so the number 11 is a reminder of the goal i set and to do my best.
Also chose it cuz it looks cool.
First dirt bike was xmas 1977

I was simply assigned #74 when I joined my first mini club, and had lots of different numbers over the years (the main club I raced with had ranked numbers for club championships, and I raced a lot of enduros too, which had random numbers assigned). I had a many years off due to injury and recently started doing the occasional race here and there. So I've gone back to my roots, and am honouring a friend who died from Leukemia when we were 18. His race number was 8, so I now use 874. Puts a smile on my face every time I look at my bike because it reminds me of the passion I had for bikes as a kid, and of course of my good friend.
Edit: HAR! I even started one back when. Off season can be long for some of us.

Highest I placed as a local pro was 3rd. 6 is a favorite number of mine and at this point I like the look of three digits so... 603

Before that it was number 12, Huffy was my guy back in the day on his RM125.

My number is 231 (first numbers of all my bikes)
i've never run anything else, I could run #5 this year but im too attached to 414
I would only change for a #1
I'd consider running #4 as poetic justice for not being able to run it 14 years ago though
I asked for #7 when I first joined NEMA in 1981 but single digit #'s were reserved for top ten in points. They said I could have #70 and I've had it most of my life.
