If the owner doesn’t even clean it up properly when trying to sell it, how well do you think he took care of it the rest of the time?

With the amount of wear that is on that shifter tip I would pass.

Looks like the chain slider and chain guide block are completely used up, probably needs chain and sprockets also. Not a very well maintained bike.

No shit..I’ve put plenty of hours on bikes, but never had that much wear on a shifter!

She’s been cartwheeled once. Subframe is slightly tweaked or the fender is just tweaked. I’m going with the subframe because there is rubber on the slip-on. I’d pass. Also his goggles are still slung on his helmet, bridged right up under the visor. This is a clear designation that the owner probably isn’t entirely sure about correct air filter and or oil filter changes with routine maintenance. If you speak on the phone he’s probably likely to say: “What’s an air filter?” RUN.

Not bad for 2k. Id go see it and check all the bearings. Maybe ask the owner to pressure wash it. Air filter will tell you the real story

Another vague, open ended question to get people to waste their time answering your continuous loop thread, thinking your post is somehow legitimate.

That's not a 2009. 2008 at the latest, look at the swingarm.

Heheh...lot's of clues here helping buyer decide.....my first clue is the Monster "M'. Monster logo on a used 250f stands for 'clapped out" more often then not.

Agreed, it’s not an 09. It’s got the older swing arm on it

If you do buy it, don't ride it without the guard in front of the countershaft sprocket...unless you want to have the most expensive derailed chain possible...that's an important piece in my opinion.

What’s going on with the frame around the swingarm pivot bolt on the right side?

As others have said:

1) That's not an 09, at least the swing arm isn't from an 09. It's an 07-08 IIRC (I had an 07 and and 09). I'd bet money on it being an 07.
2) There is dirt on the under side of the front fender. If they won't even take the time to wash the bike prior to selling it, how do you think they maintained the motor internals? That's a rhetorical question BTW
3) Case wear, from my experience shows +200 hours of riding. That's a lot for a 250F considering I doubt the maintenance was done correctly given how dirty the bike it. I have a bike with 150 hours and it looks like it has

He speaks the truth. Threw a chain and broke it off. Put a used chain on it I had. Went back out. Threw it and cracked the case. $1500 later and a $6 gaurd I was back on the track DizzyAngry

couple of questions:

does it start easy or does it take a lot of kicks to start when cold? Does it idle smoothly? If it takes lots of kicks, or doesn't idle smooth, it could be a sign of worn valves, rings, etc.

How hard are you going to be riding it, and what kind of riding are you planning on doing with it? Are you a beginner, or a more advanced rider? If your a beginner, your not going put much stress on this motor while your on a motocross track. If your advanced, you are going to be asking a lot of a bike and an engine that has this much time on it.

Are you mechanical enough to rebuild this engine from top to bottom?
If not, do you have a buddy that could help you out with it? If not, the bill from the bike shop could be more than what you will pay for the whole bike.

250F's are the worst used bikes to buy. I know they sound cool, etc. You are better off buying a used two stroke. I've owned several modern 4 strokes. I always bought them at a price that I could go through the bike and not be upside down money wise. I do my own work though. Most don't. Looking at the sides of the frame, it's got some serious hours on it. Just because it runs now does not mean it's gonna run for very long. JMHO. Maybe $1000-$1200 bike.

Send it bro. It's got some blue on it and it was obviously a monster backed rider's bike. Shit, that's a steal. Offer him $3000
