Winning the supercross and motocross titles in the same year on a 125/250 is a rare feat only accomplished by the ALL TIME greats. Cooper Webb is part of the select few who has done it, and nobody has done it twice

Ricky Carmichael - 1998
James Stewart - 2004
Ivan Tedesco - 2005
Ryan Villopoto - 2007
Ryan Dungey - 2009
Cooper Webb - 2016
Zach Osborne - 2017

Me too. Not sure if this is the year he puts it together or if he thinks he needs a new bike. But, sooner or later, he'll be a winner on the 450. He is a champion.

I like Coopers personality, I like that he seems like a straight shooter and doesn’t immediately reach for thanking Yamaha and Monster when interviewed. I am rooting for him.

If he believes in the bike, he will do just fine. Riders have to have the mental edge, even on themselves.

I actually think it’s a make or break year.

Doesn’t have to win the title but needs to string some podiums together for sure. With a win or two.

Not many guys jump to greatness in the big class later, it happens in the first year or two usually.

2019 is going to be his year. Personally I feel he will be up front and on the podium this year. Hopefully last year was just a frustrating learning year and 2018 year will be a curve to the top morer often, along with 19’ being a championship. The long year of sx really takes a toll on the rookies it seem. Well except for roczen as he won his 450 mx title his rookie year.

If he does really good this year, he'll probably have a bunch of offers from other teams, if he doesnt do good he'll still have good offers from otger teams thinking its the yamaha. Either way i see him going to a different team next year to get on a different bike. I see KTM, Husky, and Honda going after him. Tickles on a 1 year deal, Seelys at the end of his contract this year, Josh Grant also has a 1 year deal. IMO make or break year for him, but he'll have plenty of offers for next year.

Talk about a rapid rise to the top. Also explains why so many hated on him for not continuing to dominate. Cause expectations after that were high.

I don't have a lot of faith in him. I don't think he stacks up to Eli, Marvin, Ken or Jason A. I think Cooper will be a 5th-8th place guy. Not saying that's bad, but I don't believe he will be a championship contender.

If he can handle the 450 like he did with the 250 he will win many races.. His performances on the 250 were up there with the best of them super fast.

If he doesn't adapt to the 450 I can see a Barcia type of career.

I think Cooper will be significantly better this year than he was last year.

I believe in Coop. I believe he will win. I watched some highlights from 250 15/16 SX and he looked so awesome and composed. MXDN took the wind out of his sails and didn’t have it together for the next step. Coop will be back to his winning ways.

I like Cooper till he opens his mouth then not as much. He talks to much shit at times and comes off as a right dick. When he keeps his mouth in check I start liking him again to he goes off on one and I remember why I don't like him.

I knew Dungey's stats would come in handy some day.

We all know thatt he transition to the big boy class can be challenging. Cooper has decent speed on a 450
but seems to lack some in holding on to the intensity that is required for the race duration for whatever reason. It'll be interesting to see how he fares in 2018 SX. Coop is so good at forward momentum on the 250..... will he figure out a way to be consistent top 5? We'll find out very soon.

I had to check the RacerX vault because I couldn't remember his SX seasons.

2014 250 SX West - 5th
2015 250 SX West - 1st
2016 250 SX West - 1st
2017 450 SX - 13th

Assuming that he stays injury free, 3rd-6th seems like a reasonable expectation.

I'd love to see him take it to Marvin, Eli and ken. When coop is on he makes it interesting. We'all see what happens in a couple weeks. I just want some bar banging and good racing.

Coop got passed by Eli in Seattle but briefly got him back. Not many riders besides Coop, if any, were able to pass Eli back all season. He's got raw speed, he just needs the comfort (confidence) he had on a 250.

If he is mentally on it and gels with the bike, things are gonna get interesting....

1981 Mark Barnett won the 125cc motocross and 250cc supercross. Does that count? Woohoo

And Marv has had him covered on 450s. I hope Cooper can take that next step and battle with the top 4 but there's nothing there showing me that he will. I hope he's not the next Barcia.

Deja Vu. When Tomac was in his first or second year in the 450, someone said the exact same thing about him. They literally said "5th-8th place guy." They ate some serious crow. I don't believe Webb will be a contender this year, but I think he'll score some podiums and I do believe he'll be a 450 champion before too long.

I don’t see why everyone is writing him off so fast? Marvin just got good n he’s been on a 450 for years now. Kenny has only won mx and Anderson has only won what 2 races over years on a 450? Eli just finally won his first 450 championship this year too n he’s been on 450s for years now too. Kenny, Eli, and Marvin combined have a total of 0 sx championships. None of them even have that many sx wins. Am I missing something? It was literally his first year on 450s and he had Dungey and Eli dominating along with Marv ripping off stretches. Why is everyone saying he’s so bad after 1 year?
