Are they trying to see if Dungey has what it takes in the booth? And will they do a three man booth or is Emig on the way out?

I hope not. No offense to the champ, but that’s not his gig. I also found it odd the way he commented to Ralph when asked about Marvin’s injury. Awkward response.

There is no doubt they are helping him get experience in that job. Of course he's not good at it yet, but he can learn with coaching and practice.

I'd like to see Dungey still being around at the races. He's a good guy.
It seems like -as he said himself- he was a bit lost after announcing that he would stop racing.
He loves this sport and it means so much to him. I wish him that they keep him around.
And yes, he can learn how to get better in this.

I figured they were just having him in the booth since he's around doing his farewell tour.

Like Bobby said above , I think RD could be good with practice. You know one guy they had up there one night , that I thought was awesome at it.....Kevin Windham. He was a natural.

My guess is that Dungey had a contract with KTM still and he has to go to "X" amount of races, so Fox is using it to their advantage.

Biggest Dungey fan here, but it reminds me of Bill Walsh in the booth. Sometimes geniuses' don't translate to the masses.

No doubt, he was my all time favorite along w/ Art E! When I watch some of the old 90’s races & hear them in the booth, it gives me memories of growing up & being obsessed w/ moto. The good ole days!

I liked his response. It was honest. Im all for having Dungey replace Ralph.

As for Art & David? Yeah, we would all be happier if they were brought back. And Leann of course.

I thought he was KTMs heir apparent to Roger DeCoster.

I totally read that in his voice hahah. Eckman/Bailey, & DC trackside were the best to ever do it imo. I like fro & rc, but Ralph seems to always make things awkward. You can sometimes feel the awkwardness in the booth. Let's get Langston, DV, & Matthes up there for a night.

Dungey is 100% rookie in the booth. At his worst is still better than Ralph at his best....

I thought Dungey was awful! Sure he could get better, but it will be painful listening as he works his way up the learning curve.

Ken Roczen spent a little time in the booth at one of the MX rounds last year. I thought he did a great job, and has a future in broadcasting if he wants it.

I'd take just about anyone over Ralph, the amount of times he calls people by the wrong name or says "on the blue Yamaha" "on the red Honda" makes me wanna hurl

Always cracks me up how they go to Ricky who is standing shoulder deep in the whoops. They also let him talk about the dirt one time.

People seem to think any guest announcer can just come in and start calling a race well. Don't forget Emig trains regularly to stay on top of his profession. Give Dungey, etc. enough training and time in the booth and he may be able to do it as well.

I'm probably in the minority here...but I didn't like Bailey in the booth. I can't quite put my finger on why though? He is well spoken, and his knowledge of the sport is off the charts...Part of it, I think, was the fact that he was always constantly singing the praises of whomever the top guy was then entire time...that would always bug me.

What ever happened with that guy who was recorded by his girlfriend practicing announcing a Supercross at home and it was posted here?
1/16/2018 9:51pm
I would like to see Mike Alessi in the booth next year (want him up racing in Canada this year). Last year at one of the races he had a mechanical dnf and was invited into the announcers tower minutes later. He was composed, funny and provided outstanding racer insight for the rest of the moto.

Class act after suffering a dnf and still contributing to the racing any way he could. Nice job Mike!
