Have they announced the date of the race yet??? I believe it's the week before Monster Cup, if I remember correctly from a Matthes podcast
October 7-8 I believe based on schedule on MXGP website

What kind of temperature is Michigan in September/October?
wndu.com is out of South Bend. Probably the best info for Red Bud weather.

I vote don't send Tomac based on his healthy scratch the last few years. It's not fair to send him only when it's convenient for him.

Pretty much like this year's MXoN. Rainy and cold. Though we can have 'Indian summers' where it's rather nice. Coin flip, really.

Thanks guys. I've been to quite a few states over the years but not Michigan. When I look at it on the map it's tough imagine the climate given its like an inland peninsula.

Really looking forward to this event. Roughly priced it up yesterday to get an idea of what it's going to cost. Hopeful that I can make it to a MXoN in America for the first time

Now watch all the US riders be lining up just hoping to be selected. I certainly wouldn't ask any of those riders who have said no these last two years just because they didn't want to.
Exactly. I'm right there with you.

Sounds like you might not have to worry about it, apparently the Monster Cup is too important next year too, even with the race being at home.

WOW.

What kind of figure did you come to?

I'd love to do it but can see it being hellishly expensive. You would need to go for a week really to make the flights worth while.

Chicago is about two hours away. So that’s your best bet for those wanting to make a trip of it

I was budgeting around £2000 as a rough figure, could be a bit more or less depending on who I go with/how many of us there are. Flights will probably be £600-700, hotels similar, but not too bad if there's a couple of you to split the cost. Early days yet. Hard to know exactly how expensive everything is going to be when it actually comes to it

WOW.
If riders decline the chance to ride next year when a promoter has taken a risk to get the event in their back yard then that would just be the ultimate kick in the nuts

I will go for the party, that's for sure. Just a shame we (possibly) again may not have our top riders for the race. For those small percentage of us that do follow the GPs, it will be a great experience. May even ride the big bike just to make a real trip out of it.

Ultimately, too many interests with their own selfish desires to make it all work. Promotors, sponsors, you name it, all want their share. Schedules are misaligned and no one in that department seems willing to change that.

If we can't fix it for 2018, nothing is going to change anytime soon.

Who would have thought after 14 in a row we'd be in this situation 20 years later.

You listen to the MXdN wrap up pod?

Holy smokes. Fucking wouldn't want to be the Monster Kawi PR guy next year.

i´m really curious about whos on the team next year since they are not reschedualing the race to suit the us racers...
there will be the same amount of races, there will be the same need for sx testing, there will be the "most important "sponsors one off race......in fact all the reasons used to skip the race are present next year again...
the only thing changing is the probability to get a win, next year us riders are alot more probable to get a win, cuz like the british this year, the race is at their home......
so i expect the top factory us rider to not be able to accept the call due to the long and though schedual and the huge and hard testing needed for 2019 sx season.....
if its not like that and all of then are willing to go, if healthy, than it says a lot about them and the real reason for them to skip the race.....

Even later than this year. Tomac couldn't possibly manage that then.

With a date of 7 Oct 2018, I see many riders declining. What rider wants to finish Nationals in August and stay in form until October and then transition right to Supercross? None.

Maybe adjust the nationals schedule to start a little later and then have more off weeks during the schedule so it finishes late September? In '17, I think they had three off weekends in a 12 round MX schedule. That's after racing from 7 Jan through 6 May, 17 rounds, with one weekend off.

I suggest we each train all week and then travel over the weekend and do that from Jan through August and then see how we feel about riders drawing a line. I really like the MXoN and want to see our best there, but I do get where they are coming from as it is right now.

We need a strong, #1 Top 450 guy to commit, motivate the Americans and show some true leadership to get us a win next year.

That would be awesome, tried to meet up with a few vital members on Sunday but failed miserably ! Think I might have to go to this one though.

Tis my birthday for the MXdN, might have to make a trip out of it, attend the MXdN to watch Lawrence win the 250s and catch Eli at the MEC the next week.
