This has a lot of potential with a little more video editing! He could show every pass and mistake in the top five positions in a 10 min video. I would definitely watch every week.

Can I nominate James to take Ricky's job?

Very cool video. Hope he does more of them. Cool to have his commentary.
I totally agree, although i felt he struggled to put a paragraph together without getting his message across. i really enjoyed it.
He would make another incitful comentator .

That's the kind of insight I've always hoped for from RC. So stoked on this breakdown and can see it getting better from James as the season progresses. But please keep it casual, James, insight from your sofa makes it personal and awesome.

Difference is Ricky is trying to offer analysis and insight live, in real time, as things are unfolding on the track. He doesn't really have time to think and reflect on the mindset the rider might have at any given point.

I'm not defending Ricky at all, just pointing out that James has the advantage of watching the races, thinking about it, then offering his thoughts.

Absolutely, I agree. But even after-the-fact I've never heard Ricky offer anything like the insight of James.

Other way around, send Ricky back down to tell us about the "hoops" and let James have the booth.
I think RC is pretty awful in the booth and love some of the funny digs I see about him on here. But all jokes aside, I see the "hoops" comment a lot and I don't think I've ever heard him say whoops like that. Is that just something that got passed around so many times on this forum that it's an inside joke at this point?

RC, James, and Reed all commentating/ analysis. The supercross broadcast actually won an Emmy for its broadcasting in 2013 (Monster Energy Cup). Great commentating for supercross and it can only get better!

Wow that was gold. Looking forward to any round that he comments on. THIS guy should be in the booth!

So good!!! He doesn’t have to replace anybody in the booth. But I hope he keeps doing these after each race.

This was absolutely the LAST thing I would have expected James to do...and I LOVE it! It's like chilling with your buddy discussing the race but he happens to be one of the best riders of all-time and explains it in a way us true mx guys understand.

Replace those awkward science of sx segments with "JS7's Weekly Breakdown". You could learn more in 1 episode with James than every SoS segment combined.

That was awesome, may need to watch it again but don't think he mentioned Webb once?

I'll never understand why the SX broadcast doesn't have like a "round table" or panel of experts talking about the racing when there is downtime. Not like, garbage 1 minute hits about how great the LITPRO is, but a 5-10 minute segment during the track grooming intermissions for 3 or 4 guys to talk about who impressed them from the heats, what to expect in the main, what they would do differently, etc. James would be perfect for that. Seems like such a missed opportunity, especially with how well this segment went, where he is essentially just reviewing the race as he's watching it.

I think when he first was the trackside guy he said it a few times. Honestly I don't wan't to bag on the little career wrecker but I think he has started trying to hard to correct himself. he just needs to be RC and let Leigh or Ralph be the straight man. I liked Ricky better before he was fulltime and he just let the fan in him come out and the Rickyisms flow. I suspect a big part of it are the problems with the broadcast in general and the producers or whoever in his ear. RC should say screw the monitor and watch the track while having a couple pops and loosen up Wink And oh yeah we need James in the mix, Ricky wouldn't be able to jab James like he used to do to Fro. James would be able to dish that shit right back Smile

This morning I just caught one of the 447 podcasts with RC and Emig and I thought their analysis was very good. I would love to see James thrown into the mix. Hell, I’d love to see Wardy, Johnson, and Hannah thrown in there too. I’ve always loved hearing a top pro’s take on a race.
