We ( the wife and I) got a cancelation notice for our room for the MXoN at Redbud. Someone called and canceled then it was rebooked right after. Double check yours don't let this happen to you. Yes we have the conformation number but the cancelation number was emailed to us.

nope, we are still trying. I will let you know what they do and what the name of the place is as soon as we hear back from the head office.

I would say that they need to provide you proof of someone canceling , or you can tell them to get a lawyer. That is price gouging if I have ever heard it. They have to ( should , I would think ) keep records / proof of this. They can't just get a random " I want to cancel my room " request , and then cancel it......without proving it was you or your wife on the phone. Like I said , I'd get a lawyer.

Phone records would prove that they are lying!

Laughing When was the last time you hired a lawyer? One that we use for some minor and small business dealings and I am in to him for 26K and its only the end of May and he is not too bad at only $250 an hour. I doubt you use a lawyer very often if at all.

It’s shitty, but hotels are allowed to cancel reservations if they want. Check all the stories of that happening for all the small towns in the path of last years eclipse.

Slightly different situation but one to be aware of:

Daughter of a friend bought him and his wife tickets to the NASCAR Bristol Tenn Night Race as a retirement gift last year. The problem was that it was for just one night and she bought it thru one of those travel sites ( Expedia or kayak or orher, not sure which). In the parking lot, he overheard someone talking about how all the hotels only booked for three nights on race weekenend, got nervous and called the hotel. Yep, his reservation was canceled and no one had told him or the daughter. He called the daughter and told her to get on it . She booked at a Hampton Inn, two hours north of the track to get an open room. Clearly, for big events, the local/nearby motels do not see the need to split their profit with anybody. Or, the travel sites are not sophisticated enough to program/recognize special conditions. The travel site gave the duaghter the money back, but he would have preferred not to drive two hours after he got out of the parking lot.

So a lesson learned could be, for big events always book direct.

Well, today after some phone calls they did give us the room back and said sorry for the mix up. It is the Inn at St Marys for those wanting the name of the place.
