Ive seen people mention peick or bagget for nations.

No way to bagget he cant buy a start and his speed isnt there

Justin Cooper is crushing it with starts and has consistently shown speed and fitness hes my 250 pick. Plessinger cant buy a start either.

I like the idea, never even considered him to be honest until injuries started racking up but youre right he's got great starts and he's not afraid of a good fight. AP is very inconsistent and why anyone has even considered Bagget is a mystery to me. Dude had a couple good motos last year then started talking shit and blew himself up and this year he's been way off.

Id have to say right now id be taking:
MX1 - Barcia/Anderson
MX2 - Justin Cooper
MX3 - Tomac (put him here due to race running order and his fitness would be a strength doing back to back motos)

Starts are going to be a factor. These guys won’t be moving through the field as quickly as they can at a National.

Peick no effen way should be on the team, Baggett maybe, but I’m with you on Cooper

Wasn't Baggett top 3 on both starts last weekend? Maybe top 2.

Really close to the front. 6 years ago on a 250, maybe not so much but his starts on the KTM have been crazy good.

My mistake then, cant argue with you i guess old perceptions remain for me. Watching on tv you cant track every thing too well

Still right now Cooper is my 250 pick
Tomac 450 and barcia 450 Barcias starts and opening laps are on point.

How is Peick even a consideration? This year hasn't been great, he would be the weak link for sure. Better choices... Baggett hasn't performed when he went, choked really.

Let's get the Future thru a season first.

The team is obvious with Tomac, Barcia and Plessinger.

Not that it would ever happen, but I think it would be cool if Barcia was to jump back down to a 250 like our riders used to do in our glory days. He’d rev the shit out of it, knock some folks around, and have Anderson and Tomac on the bigger bikes. Would be cool to see.....

Tomac and Barcia are the easy 450 picks. The 250 rider with the most raw speed right now has to be A-Mart but I don't think we can count on him to not crash. I'll make my 250 pick after this weekend, but right now its between A-Mart or Forkner.

I assume that Peick is gonna go straight from Ironman to the hospital to get that hand fixed.

250: Plessinger

AP has been a little inconsistent, but he does have 4 wins. And just imagine if it's a mudder!

Baggett's starts are:
10 11
8 37
7 4
33 26
7 8
4 7

Barcia for comparison:
4 1
11 8
1 1
2 4
4 1
2 5

Some of you guys crack me up writing off the current points leader in the 250’s.

We should re-visit this subject in five days...

No way you take a rookie to MXoN. Plus look at his last 3 motos. Way too risky. Amart is the best choice left, then AP but his starts are suspect.

i think Covington has earned a shot. he's been beating the MX2 guys a little more regularly lately with moto wins.

Why not? I was just going to bring that up. I would send the most experienced guys. It worked for O’mara to ride a 125 when he’d been off them a few years. It worked with Hannah who’d been off them. It worked with Jeff Ward dropping down in 88. I’d say with the guys that are healthy now I’d go Tomac, Baggett, Barcia. Either Blake or Justin could ride the 250.

If Anderson could come back at 100% and Barcia was into it, this would be good. Baggett must have some hand problems hindering him so I think he's completely out of talk. If the move to JGR for Amart his true that complicates his MXoN possibilities. And I'd take Barcia on a 250F over AP because he's a great starter and has a lot of MXoN.

If he is healthy, I think covington deserves a shot again for stepping up last year and riding the 450.

Ap is awesome when he is on but coming back from a bad start at rb would be tough for him because of the hills, his size, and having to race against 450s in a mixed field.

So much can happen in both classes. If something were to happen to any of the fav oritesfor 450 choices and anderson isn't ready I would like to see ap on a 450 and covington get another chance on a bike that he is familiar with.

Champion/point leader has nothing to do with it. We are talking about being sure someone deliver in two Motos. Not who is best over 24, or 12 as now.

AP is not stable, does not move quickly through traffic and given the amount of good starters in 250 MXGP and 450 he would have to work through a lot of people with his average starts. I would put starts close to waying in 30-40% in terms of selection criteria. AP is also on the most potent bike, and still is average on starts.

To be fair he prob outweighs the rest of the field on avg by 20-30lbs. Potent bike or not that makes a difference. I wouldn't be opposed to AP on a 450 but Barcia is too solid to not take him at this point.

You're def not wrong not to want Blake on team. Both times he's gone he was awful with Herlings epically lapping him one year

Baggett has been a disappointment every time he's been to MXDN, and what worries me about his riding this year is his lack of fight every time I've seen him in a battle. At an event like the des nations, you need to be fighting for every single position. We don't need someone to go flounder around and take whatever is given to him. At MXDN you need to earn every position.

AP went 1-1 at Glen Helen. Pretty sure there are hills there.

I don’t have any stats on this, but I think AP would be near the top as far as coming through the pack and passing riders. With his “bad” starts and just shy of podium average moto finish, I don’t see how that wouldn’t be the case.
