Brea, CA (February 20, 2018) – The Autotrader/Yoshimura/Suzuki Factory Racing Team is excited to announce that defending 250 Western Regional Supercross Champion Justin Hill will contest select 450 Supercross races to gain valuable development time and provide 450 class experience starting this Saturday night at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, FL. Coming off a victory at the San Diego Supercross on his Suzuki RM-Z250, Hill looks to build off the momentum as the 250 West series takes a break from action.

“I’m ultra-psyched to have this opportunity. I’ve been waiting a long time to ride the all-new Suzuki RM-Z450, and that’s what our deal entails for next year. To get my feet wet is crucial, not just for racing, but also in getting some development time logged. We’ve already made a lot of great setting choices on the bike and I’m learning a lot,” stated Hill. “It’s really easy for me to ride the bike. The great part about these 450 races is that I have my own expectations, but there isn’t any pressure. It should be fun.”

Autotrader/Yoshimura/Suzuki Factory Racing team manager, Jeremy Albrecht, is looking forward to seeing Hill race on the RM-Z450 beginning this weekend. “We’re excited to have Hill on the 450. He’s brimming with confidence after coming off a win before the break in the 250 West series. We’ll use these next few 450 rounds as development for 2019. We will go on a race-by-race basis, and then he will get back to riding the RM-Z250 in order to finish out the year strong.”

To watch Justin Hill debut the all-new Autotrader/Yoshimura/Suzuki Factory Racing RM-Z450, log into the JGRMX Facebook Live page today at 11am PST/ 2pm EST.

I have not always been the biggest fan of Justin but this is good news for the series, for JGR and for Hill. I'm super-pumped and ultra-psyched.

Justin is coming into his own on the best equipment he's been on in years. He'll stir stuff up in the 450's.

Good for Hill as more riders on the track the better in my opinion.

None of the equipment he has ever been on has been bad! PC>factory KTM>TLD(factory KTM)>PC> JGR Suzuki(factory Suzuki). None of his equipment has been bad and I wouldn't say any of it is necessarily better than the other. Each has their strengths and weaknesses, but I would say they all have the ability and resources to win...But he rides a 450 very well and with his style I would not be surprised to see a top 5 or higher.

Bring Plessinger, AC92, and Craig up to fill the holes on their respective 450 colors, too.

I’d love to see that. But it probbaly won’t happen with AC and AP. Maybe Craig though

I really think he is underestimating the 450 class and has been since he started beating the ride a 450 drum. Itll be interesting for sure but as talented as he is I havent seen anything so outstanding that makes me think he will crush it like most seem to think ... no negativity meant towards him but when we saw guys like Stewart and RC there wasnt a doubt they would crush it in the big boy class... take Webb for example

How is he underestimating the class?

If indeed it is the premiere class in our sport, every single dude should be beating the drum to ride it. That should be the whole point of their careers. And if the 450 is not the premiere class, then the 250 class shouldn't be set up in the rules as a developmental class; just let whoever ride it, and not put Hill in a situation where he would be out upon winning further there.

I meant how hes been trying to jump up for a couple years now...hes won a title in the 250’s but far from dominating everyone year in and year out. Its not loke hes won so much hes pointed out unless last years title only allows him this year 250’s and hes forced to move up ... that i dont know bec the dam rules change so much to suit one rider and his specific team.

Its not like im saying hes gonna suck and my point was that even RC (sans one extra year) and James dominated till they had to move up whereas Hill just wants to move up bec he feels hes a better 450 rider, i respect his confidence but dont you think teams wouldve been salivating to grab him when he first started shopping for a 450 ride a year or two ago if he had shown absolute promise he was going to crush it on a 450? And the MEC doesnt count. By all accounts he will be top 10 for sure and he could shock the shit out of everyone but in the history of the sport only one rider has done that and some call him MC

My point is simpler: All these guys should be itching to race at what is supposed the premiere class. Who cares if he underestimates 450 competition, that's his own path to greatness. What is key is that he needs to race them: Nobody skips the Majors because they might win a AAA championship...

Our sport is doing it wrong.

J-Bone said on Pulp that Hill came to him right after his win and pestered him about riding the 450. I guess it worked.

So you think he has never ridden with Bogle, Pieck or Stewart ? I think he know's where he stands against those guy's on the practice track. Racing is a whole different thing, but he know's what he's up against. If he goes fast, good for him, if he gets beat up a little it's just an education. He has nothing to loose at this point, the 250 title is gone and he has no shot at the 450 title. May as well get some seat time in and learn the ropes.

Hey, maybe that was the plan! Throw the first few races to take himself tour of the title fight, then bring it and win right before heading east and pester them to ride a 450. Brilliant.

Kidding.

RMZ looks fine to me. Hill got his head straight and podiumed then won. Jimmy D just got the best finish of his life on one after years on Geico. He speaks pretty highly of the bike, but he's only the one riding it. What would he know.

This is good news after all of the missing injured 450 riders lately. I have a feeling he finishes ahead of Webb.

I will say i thought he was piss poor last year outdoors, after winning SX, and was lucky to get that deal with a 450 clause, but seeing as he has little chance of the 250 title, it wont hurt to get him on a 450 early. He does seem to have stepped it up a bit
