KTM OEM Hubs - Forged or Cast?

Are current KTM OEM hubs forged or cast. Their sales literature states they are "CNC milled" but that's all they say. I didn't think you could mill cast on a CNC and get the polished finish they have so I've assumed they're forged. Not sure I'm correct after looking at the unpolished outer hub on my bike.

They look like they are cast like other OEM hubs but then finish machined on some of the surfaces.

not 100% on this as I've been out of the loop for a while, but if they are anything like the were a few years ago, they are cast aluminum that is then machined to get that finish on the inside. The right term would be "turned" though, not milled, as it would be done on a lathe, not a mill. Of course there are some operations that require milling on it. My best guess is that they are done on a live tool lathe.

They are cast then machined. Per all the magazines notes from KTM they are CNC machined.

KTM Hub Fact of the Day: KTM hubs require all sprocket bolts to be torqued to 25.81 foot pounds (35nm) for proper and safe use. Improper torque can result in failure of said sprocket bolts and cause great injury/death.

Thanks. I also called Dan at Munn and he confirmed they're cast. What made me think they were forged was the magazines and company literature stating "CNC Milled".

Honda's also do this. Torqued 32nm and loctited when I put it on. Its expensive when they go so I check torque regularly now.

Forging and milling are not the same thing. And technically every hub is CNC machined to some degree. The flange where the sprocket mounts onto, the points where rotor mount, the mounting holes and spoke holes. All that stuff is CNC machined. So you could say that they are CNC machined but it would be kind of a gimmick
