I’m in the market for a new helmet and these LS2 Subverter helmets have caught my eye. Around 200-220 so half the price of top tier helmets but they seem to have good reviews.

What do you guys think about them? Is the low price point really a reflection of the quality?

I just bought one...has the MIPS system that I’m seeing in other more well known brands. They are light. The most ventilated helmet I’ve ever owned.

My brother has been using one for a couple years and has really liked it.

Yeah their enticing to get. I mean is a bell or 6d really double or triple as effective in relation to the price?

I have 3 LS2 helmets, no complaints. I like them.

They do have a unique Airoh'ish look to them.... some love em, some hate em.

They look strange in person. Like an Airoh on steroids.

Yeah i'm sure they're not everyone's cup of tea. I'm more concerned with the safety efficacy than i am the looks.

Fly Formula or 6D is the way to go IMO

I’ve always worn fox helmets and gear but I have to admit that I like the European styling of the LS2.

The look reminds me of the Just1, Airoh, AGV and Suomy helmets that many of the GP riders wear.

Also appears to have really good venting.

I found a brand new 6D ATR-2 for $440 shipped. So about $200 more than the LS2. You guys think its worth the extra cash?

I bought this exact one 3 weeks ago minus the yamaha sticker... My first ride in it will be on saturday.

I got the backstory on the helmet too, apparently their version of mips is superior to bell's and thus they were sued and can no longer say that their helmets have mips inside... theres more technical details. But thats my understanding. also its well vented and feel good on this melon. Also i saw a video of a dude who crashed into a tree at significant speed and he didnt get a concussion, but the helmet was bent the fuck up.

Instead of repeating your question a bunch that has an obvious answer. Take to google and do the research yourself it’s all out there. If you can’t decipher what is better between a bell/6D and the LS2, then you you need the bell. It’s literally common sense.

This doesn't make sense. MIPS is a licensed technology from MIPS corporation. If you license the tech from them, you get to (actually, are required to) use the branding. Bell doesn't have anything to do with it, other than that they are also a MIPS licensee.

Nope, more expensive is not better and some feel cheaper than there cheaper counterpart

I was in Chaparral moto for like 2 hours looking at helmets and comparing.

LS2 is gaining popularity because its at the perfect price point of 250$ at that particular store, it seemed the helmet manufacturers go from 0$ to 100$ helmets then to 150$ <--- which all seem to suckass.. Then they jump to 400+ dollar helmets. I went in there wanting to spend around 350$ max.... thus ended up with a ls2 because it was the most features and best priced helmet chaparral had. There does not seem to be much in the middle class range as i call it 200$ to 400$ for helmets in person at that particular location.

Unless you really need a carbon fiber shell.. its 100% not worth the expense north of 400$ in my opinion

That's what i asked because MIPs was the licensee.

Im at work so i probably confused it, but it has something to do with floating mips/mips.... mind you this was from a dealer employee, who may have heard it from someone else etc. so i could be completely wrong. just relaying what i was told... i did a google search and didnt find ish on it.

no.... look at both companies web sites. 6d has a ton of their independent testing data posted. They are known to be some of the safest off road helmets you can buy.

I'm sure the ls2 is a fine helmet. But its no where in the same league as 6d.

I like mine, it’s probably the best thing I’ve bought for riding in AZ. Everyone’s head is different, but the padding is really comfortable to me. I bought it not long after I bought a Moto9 and I haven’t worn the Bell since. The ventilation is much better

Some things to note:
-The vent holes on the outside are much larger than the holes on the helmet interior.

-Mouthpiece is pretty bulky although I don’t notice it while riding.

-The visor does not block the sun (the cutaways are too big and the light shines right thru)

Leftover deals are all over the place. I picked up a bell moto 9 flex carbon for 300 bucks. Much rather have that in a 4th gear crash then some untested non well known helmet.

Yaa Bell and 6D look way better to me. Have you seen the LS2 helmet in person? The mouth piece is huge and the helmet just looks funky imo. It’s kinda like the Just1 helmets. I don’t think those 2 look very good.
