No excuses needed. Not only was team USA not competitive, they were irrelevant. I'm sure the boys in red white and blue tried their best, but they aren't even in the same zip code right now as the MXGP'ers - even on home soil. Hell, they were dropping anchor in the third moto. And look what riding the US Series did to Roczen, he wasn't all that competitive either.

Kinda tired of comments like "not as good as the MXGP riders". Kinda hard stats game with 3 riders vs everyone else and if they underperform its so noticeable. Really they'd fit super well in the GP series and make the racing even closer.

Piss poor starts for sure. It just doesn't cut it at an event like this in those conditions. I still believe that the US has legit world class mx riders but today wasn't the day that could have shown it. No excuses. Hats off to all countries that showed up and raced and more so to France for their streak. Don't those frenchies like supercross too? Wink

Probably, but with Musquin and Ferrandis the French have a good Supercross team as well.
Team them up with Soubeyras or even Paulin and they have a chance.

To people in Europe, it's not their country against the USA. It is the whole of Europe against the USA (besides keeping them from becoming part of Germany a couple of times). It's like beating your bigger brother at SOMETHING.

Let them enjoy it for a while, then go back to using:

the internet
light bulbs
telephone
TV
etc.

Euros, be sure to come on here talking about MEC on Saturday. Most of you WILL be watching. (just not rooting on many Euro riders)

I think this was a better result than USA getting a podium. It shows beyond reasonable doubt that our program is not as good. Its not the Euro tracks, it's not the schedule, its not the time change. Something must change.

Lol all the things you listed were invented by Englishmen apart from the lightbulb

But honestly, the only really bad performance today was Plessinger. Not sure what was wrong with him but that's not the guy from afew months ago or even yesterday where he went down in the lead.
Had he only equalled Ferrandis scores the US team would have been on the podium. He was equal or better than Ferrandis more often than not this season.

Emphasis on SX in the US these days definitely is hurting MX skills. Supercross has become more of a freestyle MX stunt show rather than racing. Outdoor tracks at the nationals that are groomed way too much. Lack of depth in our rider pool. There are only a few elite riders anymore, whereas back in the 80's and 90's there were many elite riders. Team USA could send a B team and still win with relative ease, now an A team cannot even podium.

I have some questions for you:

1. Was Tomac in the same zip code when he got 4th in the first moto?

2. Was Tomac in the same zipcode when he moved forward through the pack his entire 2nd moto to finish 7th after a terrible start, and had the 3rd fastest lap time of the race?

3. Was Tomac in the same zip code with a faster lap time in the last moto than Cairoli, Lupino, Paulin, Searle, Antsie, Nagle, and every single other GP rider except the two Dutch riders?

3 Was Plessinger in the same zip code yesterday when he was leading his qualifier before he made a mistake on a tough, rutted triple jump in the mud?

4. Was Barcia in the same zip code yesterday when he got 2nd in his qualifier right behind Coldenhoff who smoked everyone-including Herlings-today?
