Okay, I've been watching the races AND the results of this year's FIM 250 classes and I do think the EMX250 is as close to MX2 speedwise as it has ever been. There is quite a few MX2 races where the EMX250 riders took there chances and exception made of Great Britain in the mud, they have almost the same results in both classes. All that to say that exception made of Spies who had some better results in EMX250, those top EMX250 racers are not looking much off the pace compare to MX2 riders when they make a try at the world championship. I have few contacts with teams and stuff and for example Tom Guyon, who is a fast european 250 rider, whas oftenly as fast (sometimes faster) than Tom Vialle last winter. Of course racing is very different but the n°2 250 class of the FIM is really coming up right now...

Definitely a pretty fast and deep class. Just look at Gifting going 9-10 on Sunday on a new bike. He hasn't even won a single EMX round this year.

Benistant, Guadagnini and De Wolf will probably all be fighting for MX2 wins soon

Guadagnini and Benistant will be front runners in MX2 in the next two years. I mean, Guadagnini did well at Faenza. Thibault will do some MX2 races as well. So we will see.

I don't understand how Matthes can shit on MX2 when Locurcio isn't even contending for wins in EMX and finished top 10 in the 450s not that long ago.

Look where Harrison finished usually in MX2 and look where he is finishing now in 250 ama. Better bike might helped aswell, maybe he got some confidence back also, I don't know. Just a good example lol.

Btw, Jett Lawrence won an EMX 250 overall in 2018 and just look how stacked the field was back then. (he was 14 at this time btw!)

Racing is so close these days. I mean I saw Malkiewicz being a top 5 guy in the french championship vs only e few EMX250 riders and he got a 7th in race 2 yersteday...

The issue with Matthes and his GP takes is that he doesn't follow the series close enough. It became glaringly obvious in the mid season RacerX podcast he did with Lewis Phillips and Adam Wheeler.

Nothing wrong with that, i'm sure he is busy as hell doing a great job of covering the US series. But when it comes to MX2 and EMX250, he is not very informed at all.

He doesn’t shit on the class. Simply states the aging out rule is ridiculous. Which it is.

No, he also shits on it and says it doesn't compare to AMA 250. I agree with him on the aging rule, and I actually agree with him on almost everything AMA, just don't agree with underestimating guys like Vialle and Geerts.
