MONACO (Principality of Monaco) 10 March 2020 - Infront Moto Racing sadly informs that due to the coronavirus outbreak, the MXGP of Patagonia - Argentina, scheduled on March the 21st and 22nd has also been postponed. The new date for the Argentinian round will be announced shortly.
Owing to a decision of the Argentinian Minister of Health to postpone any international events during this particular moment, Infront Moto Racing, in agreement with the FIM and the local organiser +Eventos SA, as well as the Argentinian authorities, is enforced to postpone the MXGP of Patagonia in Argentina to a later date in the year.
Infront Moto Racing along with the FIM and the national organizers are working very close to preserve the health of all those involved in the FIM Motocross World Championship as well as the Championship programme as much as they can; the aim is to find a feasible date that will see the MXGP calendar extend in 2020. More information on an exact date will be announced very soon.
The International situation has been monitored on a daily basis by the Promoter of the FIM Motocross World Championship and the FIM. More details on the new date will be released shortly, but in the meantime, once again, we ask everybody for a great sense of responsibility.
The Shop
That would make the first four MotoGP premier class events postponed to start the season.
Glad I didn’t buy tickets, hotel and flights for Texas this year.
MONACO (Principality of Monaco) 11 March 2020 – Infront Moto Racing is glad to inform that a new date for the MXGP of Patagonia - Argentina, which was recently postponed, can now be revealed as it’s bound to be held in Neuquen on November 21st and 22nd 2020.
Infront Moto Racing along with the FIM, the local organiser +Eventos SA, as well as the Argentinian authorities have worked close to find an alternative date for this event. This new date will now see the FIM Motocross World Championship calendar extend, but this change was necessary in order to preserve the championship programme as much as possible.
This new date is 9 weeks after the penultimate GP of Imola and 8 weeks after the MXoN. I think they decided to move the date so far back it wouldn't concern any of the riders and teams who want to / will be selected to race the MXoN.
MXGP of Argentina on 22nd of November. Just cancel it already. The track is nice and all but riders will not get chance to even heal into the 2021 season if this flaming circus will continue.
-: the season gets stretched way too long
-: the gap between GP #19 and GP#20 is 9 weeks. Riders have to stay in shape this period
-: what if the worldchampions are known before the last GP of the season? Huge anticlimax
-: how many riders (including factory ones) are willing to make the trip that late in the year if they don't have anything to gain anymore in the standings?
+: the rest of the season can be raced as provided (if COVID-19 is under control by then)
+: the MXoN can take place under normal circumstances as there's an 8 week gap between the MXoN and Argentina
+: injured riders now have the time to recover without having to miss any (more) rounds so they can keep their championship hopes up
Pit Row
I doubt it will all actually happen - these late GPs.
But, you never know.
A Huge amount of Sporting ( well, Any) events, of All types, will be delayed , or cancelled outright.
S**t happens. No one's fault.
I'm so glad I'd left my bookings for Indonesia and other Euro GPs and the MXDN, late, this year. And I'd bet my IOM commitments are going to go by the wayside, as well.
I assume the date of the Argentinian GP is so far into late November because they are expecting a whole slew of GPs to be shuffled back in the year.
It's winter time in Patagonia when it's summer in US/Europe and the location of the race is a well known touristic ski destination.
The mx race track will be under 3 feet of snow in July.
What about riders switching teams or class after this season? They all wanne start prep somewhere early to mid november, now they have this.
I guess the GP still get canceled or there will be like 10 guys on the gate with the same team or contract on the line for 2021.
