It is with much regret that we inform you of the tragic death of a young rider Igor Cuharciuc from Moldova who was participating in the European Motocross 85cc Championship race in Loket, Czech Republic today.

Following a fall from his motorcycle during which he sustained serious injuries the race was immediately stopped. Despite the efforts of the event medical team who were immediately at the scene and the attendance of a helicopter medical team he sadly passed away.

As a mark of respect, the European Motocross 85 cc race scheduled for tomorrow has been cancelled.

The FIM Europe, FIM, YouthStream, ACCR and Motoclub Loket extend their condolences to the family, friends and the team of Igor.

God Bless him and his family. RIP

It seems this was a special occasion to add mini's to the MXGP program? I like the concept. What happened?
I hate to ask, but we need to learn from these things so that they may never happen again if preventable.

How old was this kid?

Oh man. I was watching the race and shook my head when I saw that someone was down at that downhill jump. They pulled the red flag out really quickly and I thought oh shit this is bad. Just not this bad.

Ride in peace young man. A really sad day.

The red flag came out pretty quick and they were on it full force before the leaders hit that downhill, tragic accident. Condolences to the family

That's the step down where it happened

The distance of that leap was insane for a 85cc with barely any run-up on the top. A lot of riders of the big classes had their moments there (especially in the wmx class). Not going to smartass around here but when I stood on top of that hill on friday for first time with the 65 class in mind I was like WTH? It was the last race of the day and all the classes who ran before left big holes in the landing zone. I didn't see the crash but I know what happened anyways. When the red flag came out I watched over to the step down and the paramedics were reanimating already. It was a horror.

I get what you mean. That jump has made me cringe many times over the years. It's a big jump even for the mx2 and mxgp guys. A lot of holes leading up to it and big breaking bumps right after, not to mention the possibility of casing the landing. The margin for error on that jump is pretty much none. I just went back to watch the scary crash Jonass had on that same jump last year, and even Malin commented after the crash that "it's a jump that every year people talk about...". I don't want to speculate or be a smartass either, but with the constant close calls year after year, and now this one, I would be surprised to see that jump there next year.

I can't imagine the scene, watching that unfold, like you said they were reanimating already when the red flag came out. That must have been awful to watch, let alone be the parent rushing from the pits to the scene. Just horrible. Unsure

They are very sad this news, one always expects that it does not touch him near, and feels the misfortune of those who have to suffer close to him when losing a loved one or a friend.

Son muy tristes estas noticias, uno siempre espera que no le toque cerca, y siente la desgracia de los que le toca sufrirla de cerca al perder un ser querido o un amigo.

That's the same step down where Josh Coppins lost his title the year he was dominating, because of a horrible crash.
Never liked that jump, with no space for error.

Sad Damn hate to hear news like this, way too young. That jump has bit many racers in the past. Why not make the landing flat.
