Ryan Villopoto said during a Steve Matthes Show podcast that there were people running 150s in the new 125 class. Some people specifically told him they were running 150s and he believed a few more were running them. He said the first place rider was on a 125.

Does anyone care? Is there money being paid for these finishes? Are the bikes ever teched?

Sorry @peelout, this is about a different kind of jugs
Poll

Do you care that 150s are racing in the 125 class

I believe RV, I also believe they should be allowed to run 150s. So there.

Basically, if everyone is permitted to run a 150 then by all means. But if the rules state 125, then it's cheating if you run a 144 or 150.

Also, what does it say about 125s if guys are "having" to run 150s??

I don’t think anyone actually cares but if it gets more serious I think they should allow them as long as they’re stock. So you can run a modified 125 or a stock 150. It’d be a more economical way for the average guy to have a fast bike that can’t afford sending his motor to Pro Circuit.

Because 144s and 150s have become readily available, I say let them run. It's an exhibition race. If they want to make a series with points, money, whatever, then put more thought into what you really want and enforce accordingly. Until then, keep it simple.

I've followed this some and most like the 125 power characteristics over the 150 for mx anyway, kind of the 250 versus 300 deal.

If I remember correctly They say 125s are more fluid from gear to gear and doesn’t punish mistakes as severely.

Learn the rules before worrying if they are being broken.

If it's illegal to run a 150 in the 125cc stock class at Loretta's, then it should be illegal in the pros. Even though the race is an "exhibition."

I agree. Whoever ran a 150 should get a lengthy appeals process and a 4 year suspension. Cheaters.

When DC posted the link to the events on FB, I asked if it had to be a 125cc and he said yes, no bigger.
Rules are 125cc.
Do I care? No, not really, I'm sure there are 150's, But I'm just glad they brought it back.
I hope more local tracks add 125 and 250 two stroke open classes as well.
The revolution is starting!

I feel like, if the kit is made available by the OEM, using OEM specified parts, it should be legal in this particular exhibition style class. The OEMs who are still willing to participate in the class should be allowed to show the potential of their own hop up kits.

Last year up to 150 was legal

The events, and rules never really got put out there... original talk was for it to be a real series east, central, west with a shootout of top 10 from each at the “dream race”

So if you planned on doing the events... and went of last year...150 was ok. When it finally got announced i think some people got caught out of luck... we almost built and prepared a tm144 to do the “series” when that was rhe word... glad we didnt with how the series and rules ended up (one race only - unless your will hahn or villo)

I know the KTM 125 has much better overrev than the 150. 150 has a nice meaty mid but signs off a bit too quickly without some motor work for MX.

For no reason should 150s be allowed in this race.
I do not care, however, unless we can watch the race on NBC sports gold.

I thought it was for shits and giggles, who cares? 150s were allowed in the original dream races I’m pretty sure.

If it weren’t for the stupid f’n double displacement rules over the years, the 144/150 wouldn’t be commonplace today. Been a moving target of incompetence with the idiots at the AMA for the past two decades. Now, they are awful quick to dump it all in DC’s lap when questioned on it.

Exactly, they don’t even know who finished the race. If it’s all a big joke, who cares if they cheat?

Nothing new. Pretty sure Ping himself admitted to riding a big bore at one of the Dream Races in the past. Yes it's illegal, no most guys don't give a shit. Though Ping did say his bike for this year is a legit 1-2-5er

450s are also readily available and they don’t let them race the 250 class. A 125 class is a 125 class no matter what else is available.

FFS people. If it's a 125 class then that's the limit. If it's open for big bores then just say that. If folks are running cheater bikes to try and keep up with the fast boys ....then they are just cheating bitches. If I enter the 125 class I don't need anyone to TELL me that a 155 is illegal. If you believe that they aren't checking so that makes it ok...screw you ya POS.
