I guess it doesn't really matter but I refuse to call this event the Motocross of Nations. Call me old school but this event shall be known as the Motocross des Nations to me

You forgot the 3rd option: “It Literally Makes No Difference Because They Mean The Same Exact Thing So I Choose To Worry About More Important Things That Actually Matter”

Good comeback and history isn't subjective... may be you are a Jane-come-lately that has no clue or care about 50 off years of the same name. Maybe we should just rename the Super Bowl to the Bug Game... subjective enough?

Not that it's a big deal.. But if it's a race where all nations come together, why is a French word in the title of the race?

Who said anything about history? Lol. There’s people in the world that drink their own piss as a tradition but I never have, have you? Change the narrative all you want bud but not everyone holds the same sentiments as you. Call it what you want, I’m not the one getting mad over the word “of”

Yep. You’re not wrong...mxdn is the “proper” name, but I personally say mxon cuz it rolls off the tongue easier. I just don’t get the constant uproar when it means the same thing

Because I speak English I say of, but if a person wants to say des.. well by all means go for it. So for me it is MXON.

Click the link below. The FIM was founded in Paris, France on December 21st 1904 and it governs 113 national motorcycle federations. Since it was founded in France it only makes sense that all the legal documents were filed/published in their native language at the time and not English. That's why it was "des" and not "of".

Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme otherwise known as International Motorcycling Federation.

That said in 2004 it was officially anglicized to "of" when Youthstream got the promotional right to the World Motocross Grand Prix.

Anything except "Dezzz"
So people know, "Des" in French is pronounced like "Day" in English.

English or French, that’s all. Don’t say des if you pronounce the S. I’m going with MXoN.

Sure but then you can't pronounce "nations" like an English speaker either. Say de na-si-oon at the track and see the looks you get.

‘Motocross’ itself is derived from French. Like ‘Grand Prix’. And ‘FIM’

MXDN. It's how I remember it and how it comes out.

The only reason you should use DES is that this Luongo mofu changed it into OF without a freaking reason. All that fat Italian fuck does is wrecking the motocross.

What if we all start calling it the Tour of France instead of the Tour de France???

Or the "Tour of Italy" instead of the Giro d'Italia???

Or instead of Roger DeCoster we call him Roger the Coster? Or Ken the Dycker? Marc the Reuver? Jeremy from Horbeek?

GTFOH!

Motocross: the British invented it, the French named it.
