Why is age a factor?? Constant US way of working is to get riders to turn pro ASAP then get on SX circuit. No wonder US riders get burnt out and retire early.

Christ let the kid ride what & where he wants as he matures - physically and mentally. He has good folk in his corner to help with whatever direction he goes

Bringing up his age in every conversation is kind of pointless imo, especially comparing to Jett since his route has been pretty uncommon in it’s own way. Everyone has their way, some move through the amateur scene quicker and some take more time. The Vohland’s have obviously made the decision to not rush it, and we won’t see until a couple of years down the road how it works out.

So, name one champ in the recent history of the MX / SX, who didnt turn pro as soon as he was eligible at age wise

Prado 15

Just few names, and the list goes on and on
There are plenty of champions who began their pro career around their twenties.
I'm not claiming facts - but mentioning just some who come to mind from recent years
Romain Febre - was 21 I think - 2015 MXGP champ (recent in my mind)
Malcolm Stewart - about 20
Plessinger - 19
Tedesco - 19 or 20
John Dowd - 21-22

+ lots of championship contenders and podium guys in Europe and USA (Desalle, Paulin, Peick ...)

Smets started riding motorbikes when he was 17-18.
I have heard a story about an Italian cook who started riding at 32 and became world champ at 34-35, not so recent years. Maybe someone knows if this story holds any truth?

YES!! Another American for the Euros to shit on. Enjoy!
Yet, awkwardly they’ve taken in Covington as one of their own and no mention of his performance over the weekend.
I honestly saw TC's results and it just made me sad. Either he's still not fully fit after the bout with EBV, or his confidence was just ruined. He's better than that, but he's running out of time....
