I earned a permanent # this year and I'm stumped what to run... 24 was my first racing # back in oz, but I've had 123 since I came to the US.

What should I run? 24 or 123?

actually I can choose from 19, 20, 21, 24, and 28, but the others dont have as much meaning as 24 and 123.

I agree you should stick with 123. Didn't you also run 123 as a junior?

Well, kind of like Mike Alessi with #800, you are well recognized with #123. Depends on what value (if any) you feel for a 2 digit number though.

That's a tough one . . . 24's a good number I'd say, but 123 has rhythm.

I dig the 123 myself.
When guys keep the 3 digit it seems like its more "thier" number.
338, 118, 800, 801, 199, etc.
The top 100 get whored out.
When I see 123 i think metty, when I see 24 I think of a few different riders.

#123, NO DOUBT!
2 digit numbers are overrated.

BTW, how did you like the Long Island track & the MTB trails? I'm one of Franco's friends...uh maybe I shouldn't say that. lol

Wasn't Josh grant 24? I say 69 is a good number. People will remember that. Smile
But your question was which one to run-123 is kind of ingrained in us. However, a number change can kind of give you that feeling of newness and excitement so that may be good. Also, you will get more mention during TV broadcasts also because they will say you used to be 123 and now running the 24. Tough call man. 24 for me.

Hey Brett, the 123 sure is a lot more familiar with the fans here, though it'd only take most of us about two or three races to get dialed into your new ID.

With apologies to Travis Pastrana, Mike and Jeff Alessi, Martin Davalos, Jason Lawrence, etc., I'm not that fond of three-digit numbers as permanent items. That, combined with the fact that you have some history with 24, I think I'd opt for the for the two-digit number.

123

Although I hatted it at first the perm # thing grew on me. So stick with 123 till you can run 1.
The AMA messed up on this. Think how many programs that are no longer perchaced every year.

Are you moving up to the 450's ? If so then 24 would be cool . New bike... new number.

# 24 would mean you are a faster rider.

Always go for the lower number! we'll remember it's you! and it is a permanent number so you'll have it for a while unless you make it to 5, 6 or number 1!

No brainer - take the 24.

The lower you are - the faster you are.

Go with 24. If it means something to you. And thanks for taking the time to talk to me at Comp Edge that day I was shooting photos. It was the day Cox got those pics of Reed before he announced.

I heard Jlaw is going to go for #420 for next year. Steal it before he's reinstated and can get it.

Take the 24 man, it's a permanent low number and you can't lose it unless you gain Zero points for a year.

123.

If you were moving up or changing teams, I would say change. I dig triple digit numbers.

First up I'd have a pint of VB a pie and some yabbies while you mull it over , then I'd take the 24.

That sounds right. Same team, same colors, same number. When you change teams, change the number.

When I see the 123 I know exactly who it is. I say stick with it.
