Hi what are the most comfortable mx boots with best shifter feel?? I'm old school and have wore leather Alpinestar or Fox leather boots for 30 years..I have put off changing to plastic boots primarily because ones I tried I couldn't feel shifter and brake like I've always been accustomed too.
I'm less worried about protection as I'm no longer jumping tall buildings....yea right...just comfort and feel.

Depends what price range. You could go with a fox instinct or there new 180 boot I think it's called or even a comp 5.

Instincts by far.

I left mine at home a month ago and bummed a buddies Tech10's, and was shocked how much I enjoyed putting my Fox's back on.

Washed up moto and enduro weekend warrior.

which foxs are you wearing?

My price is not as important,,,I where stuff for decades so I get my moneys worth...I've seen some cheaper ATV boots that interested me cause they looked like they used more leather...but they cut into my ankle so they came off quick.

Garne SG 12's

I have size 12EE & the Sidi Crossfire are great boot ,but way to narrow for my Big feet!

If have you have narrow feet you have 2 options, If you a dang big foot it's the SG12's.

Both are Great long lasting boots! whit great protection.

Alpinestar tech 7
Fox instinct

Go to your nearest dealer and try on all the different boots, each brand fits totally different. So it helps to try them on and find he one that best fits you. The tech 10's need a few rides to break in but both the tech 7's and fox instincts are like putting on a slipper right out of the box (compared to some of the other brands)

Fox Comp 5s will give you the feel you're looking for. There is basically no break in time and you can feel the brake and shifter right away. Try some on at your local shop, they aren't going to provide a bunch of ankle support but from what you said it's not a huge issue for you.

I'm old-school also. Awesome boots right from the first ride are Jett J1 boots (very small toe-box, great gearshift operation) and Forma Terrain TX; even more comfortable (and the most awesome price!).

Melbourne, Australia. Current rides: '11 RMZ450, '84 CR500, '06 DRZ400, '79 KX250 with 400 engine, '06 GSXR1000 full Yosh racebike.

I'm a nine in Tech 10's, would I require a nine in the instincts, or are they off in sizing?

I'll say this...it's either the Sidi Crossfires or the Gearne SG-12's.

Which will depend on your feet...narrow feet=Sidi, wide feet = SG-12's.

Sidi crossfires with the replaceable soles, pick up some replacement parts and they'll last for years. The toe box is short in height so I find it really easy to get under the shifter. But like others said, probably not best for wide feet.

You have to figure out which brand fits your foot shape, asking random people on the internet isn't going to help. On my feet, with kind of a wide, square toe box, instincts feel terrible, the pinky toe area tapers in way too much. They feel okay while riding but putting them on and walking around is downright painful. SG12s are the best I've tried so far. Of course Fox is the only brand I can get pro deal on...
