I don't know anything about the Chevy's but my Ford E250 has 224k and runs perfectly, I've only changed tires and oil in it. I'm actually gunna be selling it in a week or two. I'm in Orlando, I'll give you a good deal haha.

This 100% depends on how it was drove and maintenance done previously as well as just what it was used for. It being a 3/4 ton, it could have had a life of hauling heavy trailers around most of the miles or it could have been babied the entire way doing light weight highway runs. If it doesn't have a tow hitch, that is a positive start. IMO, you should get the vin and get a report on it. Then if you still go to see it, tell the guy before even going you would like to drive it for half our or so with him in the passenger seat. If he agrees, drive the shit out of it, as much so without being disrespectful to the owner. If the guy won't let you drive it more then a few minutes, there is a reason so you may should pass. If he knows it is a good van, he won't have a problem taking half hour to let the future owner drive it.

Personally, I like the gm vans better then the fords, unless it happened to have the 7.3 hiding under the hood.

I just got the same van on Friday. 237000 km (140000 miles). It has all highway miles. I know the guy that picked it up off the lot with 0miles on it. Oxygen sensors always need replacing in them, and depending how hard you are on breaks. Other than that I have had 15 years of driving Chevy express vans as service vans with no major problems. I think that price is fair. I paid 2600$ Canadian for mine.
My recent work van has 310000 km on it and it still runs like a dream.

There is one with a bullet proof 7.3... 7k though. 300k on it

If you only have one bike the Ford works well, otherwise the Chevy opens up better and has more room for two bikes.

That van looks a lot like mine. For a 2000' , having 170k on it is really nothing. It all depends on what it was used for and how it was taken care of. Those Chevy express vans can get 400,000 out of them. You'll have your usual repairs. Couple things I would ask....

1. Has the fuel pump been changed?
2. Has the intake gasket been replaced with the newer material one with metal? Stock ones were plastic and usually blew about 150k.

3. Brakes been done?
4. Exhaust / catalytic converter replaced?
5. Rear end seals not leaking?
6. How smooth is the tranny?

$3500.00 ain't a bad deal at all if everything is good.

If you just use it for the races and not as a daily driver I wouldn’t worry much about the miles if it looks like it’s been taken care of mechanically. Don’t forget your “free WiFi “ stickers either. Works way better than candy these days...

I have two of them. One with 269k on it and runs like new. Oil changed every 3k and they will last. The other one has 170k and no problems. The chevy vans make an awesome moto van. Seems like a fair price for it too.

I picked this one up a couple months ago. I've gone thru it, fixing the little things and decided to paint it, new windshield, new bumpers/grille/ marker lights/etc, tinted the windows and put a leather wrap on the rotten steering wheel. I'm still trying to find some door panels and a couple interior plastic trim pieces that were missing/ broken, but they aren't easy to find. Purely cosmetic....
It wouldn't pass smog, so I had to replace O2 sensors and believe it or not the thermostat was bad and caused a lot of grief figuring out why it wouldn't pass the smog test.
I did the full tune up, oil change, radiator, water pump/ hoses and belts. It has 170K miles and after the tune up, it runs like a new van.
Went ahead and bought some wheels/tires and put new Bilstein shocks on it to give it a great ride. I paid $2000 for it, put another $5K into it, but it's a SOLID van and should last me a long time. I really was hoping to keep it under $5K, but the wheels put me over my budget. Cool

I find this funny. If a thief sees a cleaned up and stylish church style van, they know something good is hiding inside.

My van is a 1500exoress with 117,000. Runs great. Bought it with 70k. Paid around 12k for it 6 years ago. I only drive it to Florida in the winter and to the track up here in the summer. It never sees salty roads but once or twice when I'm headed south. But I immediately wash undercarriage once I get to Florida mid January.

My 18 year old bro bought a 2500 with 174,000 on it. He's at 210k now and it's running strong. Great vehicles if they're not trashed. We paid 7500 for the van with 174k. But it was immaculate. . So If the guy wants 3500 just be weary. you really need to look and drive them to determine. Some are hammered. Some are nice. You can find a nice van might take a while though.

So you're saying we should all drive pieces of shit and not have anything nice. That makes sense

I would 100% get an extended van in a V8. Ford and Chevy each have their positives but after owning my extended van for the past 7 years I cant ever thing of a reason I would want a non extended version.
