Lots of talk about numbers, just wondering if there is a projected list out there?

Otherwise I might work on the top few to see who will be getting career numbers.. (AC? Ferrandis?)

Look for a big change next year, rider's initials instead of numbers. They won't release it for a while yet..

AC is the only rider earning a new career # this year. And Osborne gets to pick his Championship #8 supposedly.

631 Baggett
624 Osborne
506 Seely
505 Wilson
501 Cianciarulo
490 Savatgy
489 Anderson
482 Plessinger

464 J Martin
449 Ferrandis

So AC will indeed be able to pick 92 for next year? That's pretty cool, took a lot longer than I think we all expected but cool to see him be able to get it.

Also to insult to Ferrandis' unfortunate wrist injury, if not for it he probably would have got a career number with Anderson only 40 points ahead and not racing.

I think the big elephant in the room is who, if anyone, will run the #7 next year. Technically, it's supposed to be available. Matthes, JT etc say there's no way the AMA actually "strips" it from Stew though. Not yet, at least. Hopefully we see James himself running it at some point in 2018... but sure not holding my breath.

I'm sure it will be somewhat taboo someday when some rider inevitably does take over running the 7... kind of like Baggett running the #4 after RC

Positively, absolutely 110% obsessed with anything MOTO.

We'll have a full projected list out shortly after Indiana, but like Dwayne stated, AC will be getting a two-digit career number (I'm guessing #92) and Osborne a one-digit (probably #8).

The whole number system is truly obsolete and meaningless. I'm dead serious when I say that initials would be better for the sport.

Right? It'd be so much easier for casual fans to understand the sport if there were initials on the bikes, so they could differentiate between Justin Barcia, Justin Brayton and Justin Bogle....

It's no different than a 3 digit #. Middle inital or follow it with a #.
