I think that having the B 450 group first is not fair to all the riders that ride the whole series. Especially the privateers. I mean to have Ryan Dowd post a lap time of 208.9 on his 2nd lap, puts him in 7th. Ahead of Josh Grant. Seely and a host of other great riders, factory riders.
I am not taking anything away from Ryan, But riders like John Short that have been in the top 20 at most of the races is 6 seconds slower because the track is beat?
I know FLAME on, this is my first post, but been in this industry for a minute.

Either way someone loses out. Better it be the factory guys that should excel in the rougher conditions. It seems relatively fair this year so what's your point little dowdy rips.

I dont have a problem with it. It seems they have to do it some way or other and conditions are constantly changing out there. Thing to know is some of those locals there really are fast at that track. The big question for them is do they really have the stamina to run those times 35 mins.

They go out first and make the lines at every other race on the schedule and struggle to get a qualifying time against the factory riders.

So one race it works out to their advantage.

Leave it alone.

So you want the better riders to have the easier track and the not better riders to have a harder track? And this makes sense to you why? Whistling

Should be a full free practice for all groups at this track. That way nobody gets to log a qualifying lap on a highway.

If there wenrt so many slow guys you could seed the groups and take top half of each.. but you cant have 20 seconds plus a lap spread.. nobody will ever get a lap in

If you ride truly smooth as glass sand, it is actually pretty sketchy. No ruts in the turns, you just have to trust it and rail the outsides and hope the front end sticks. And, it's slippery on those downhills.

It's the same at every track. So, those locals have the same opportunities.

I agree, they should change it. They should have something like 2 free practices, top 10 automatically in the motos and everyone else needs to race for a place on the gate. I don't know something like heat, semi and lcq.

Yep, no times kept for first set of practices. Or, even better, qualifying, like worlds.

And then the 250's go faster in the second practice....

We have dudes from B qualifying top 15/top 10 and going 30th or worse in the motos. I think it needs to change

I think I could make the trip to break it in for them all while it is still a highway. Cool

Need ruts to go faster, hard to go fast on a fresh groomed track in reality. If you race , you know this. Southwick may be an exception because it goes to the extreme.

I think what he's getting at is that there are 15 Factory guys, so that means roughly 25 privateers that are also in the A practice, you get seeded into A based on your season points. So the privateers that are going to all of the races and normally make the Fast 40 are the ones now being bumped for the local privateers that have the smooth track advantage.

There seems to be no way around the A/B qualifier dilemma. Most weeks the B (if there is a Cool is at a disadvantage.

How does this argument come up every year?

The schedule is the same at every race and one time a year there is a discrepancy which may or may not affect a small and hard to define group of "privateers"...

Go find some sand and get better in it or just realise it's the same for everyone, at every track. Once a year it's a fucker, but it's a fucker for everyone and seriously, is the solution just reverse it for one race a year to overcome a perceived advantage for dudes who are battling? Who cares.

Actually the schedule is not the same at every race. The two races that show the 450's live on NBC (Primary network) the schedule flips which put the 450 B practice first. This is only really a advantage at the Wick.

They flip practice too? Didn't know that.

Still, it's just Southwick as you say... Who cares.
