As much as I like reading Ask Ping every week....
I can accept the fact that saving people and houses is much more important.

Those wild fires are no joke! We had to be evacuated from the Lilac Fire and when driving out it looked like this only few miles from the house...

I'm in Fallbrook too. If the wind would have started blowing north we would have been in trouble.

Even seeing relatively small fires is no joke, those guys are brave men and women. So shit to see.

Been there, done that, got out 5 years ago in basically one piece. It was a dream job for me but Pings gig at RacerX takes off duty fun to a new level.

This is one of those once in a career incidents. I'm hearing that any equipment that has wheels is being put in service and staff position people are getting pulled back into fire stations.

A lot of those poor bastards will be out there on Christmas Day.

We are running on our third wind now since the fire started and is the longest red flag status for as long as records have been kept.

I live about 5 miles west of Glen Helen and the wind is 20-25 with gusts around 35-40. Humidity is still single digit.
